Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Felt Owners,

Let's see what you've got.

Pic(s)
Spec(s)
How many miles?
Where did you get it?

I'd post mine, but I spent all of my money on the bike (none left for a camera).

I wanna Felt frame.

1. long top tubes
2. 73.5 STA for long cranks (slack STAs are only for putting tall riders on small cranks)
3. 70mm BB drop (not bad for long cranks)

I use a 180mm, but one day I'd like to try 185mm for the hell of it.

Then if I was going to spend big bucks I'd get a Scott CR-1. Same long top tube with a 73.3 STA. Don't know the BB height on CR-1.

Although Felt CF frame looks good too.

I got my 2004 F80 as left over in late Nov of last year.

F80 (only 400km due to deployments/family/work)
STI: Tiagra (soon to be 105, love the black)
Crank: RPM? 172.5 I can't find too much info on this crank, does anybody know anything about them? (Soon to be 105, unless I can squeeze a FSA in the budget, once again love the black)
Front D: Tiagra (soon to be 105)
Rear D: 105
Brakes: Plain black (look like 105 but there is no badging)
Wheels: are Alex DA22 with Felt hubs
Stem: Felt
Seat Post: Felt with setback
Urban Cammo Bar tape, Ekage cages, Topeak under seat storage, Blackburn mini pump, Vetta RT33 (I told myself I will upgrade when I hit 1000KM to a Cateye CD300W almost halfway there)

Right now I am still breaking in the Selle Italia saddle that came with it. Don't kow if I like it yet but that is due to the setback Felt seat post. Ordered a new Thompson seat post to get rid of the setback. Everything else is stock

I just wanted to get into riding to get out the rut of running all the time. Now I would rather ride 25 miles then run 5. Riding has actually renewed my love of running. So "it all buffed out" as some would say.

I know the picture is the Manufactures picture, I wil get a real one soon.

Take care and ride safe.

Proud Felt rider,
Stalter

Mine's an '03 F65. I picked it up November of '03 as a close out. It's stock except for a Felt carbon seatpost and a Specialized Alias saddle. I moved the XO saddle over to my mountain bike. I only have a little over 1000 miles on it. I mainly MTB and road ride for fitness (and fun). Although, I plan on riding some centuries this year including a double in July, so I'll be getting a lot more miles on it.... It's a great bike, not as much bling factor as others, but it's stiff and fast....

Just curious? What is the Felt craze? Seems to be a lot of positive discusssion about the Felt bikes. Anyone care to comment on pro's and con's?

The only thing my LBS says is more bike (meaning better up components) for the money.

I have a 1998 (about) Felt F1 Road. This is different from the current frames, it is Easton 7005 Al tubing and sold as frame and fork only(Kestrel EMS). I got it from Bob's Bicycle Shop in Melbourne FL. It probably has about 15-20K miles on it. Wonderful bike...everything I wanted at the time.

Specs:
Model: Felt F1R
Color: Matte Black (only finish available)
Size: 56cm
Fork: Kestrel EMS Carbon
Group: Shimano Dura-Ace 9 spd (unless otherwise stated)
Pedals: Speedplay X2
Wheels: nothing special (dura-ace hubs, sun rims)
Handlebar: Profile hammer Al
Stem: Profile Stiffy Al
Saddle: Avocet or Vetta
Seatpost: LP Composites Carbon

Hey... that Yellow '05 F70 is the spittin' image of my '04 F65 -- sans the 3rd chain ring in front. I scored my Felt on sale at Willy Street Bikes mid-winter sale. Felt guys say it was sort of mid-year model. Got a FAN-TAZ-tik clearance deal! What kind of wheels and saddle came on that F70 of yours? And does it have 105?

since it is SNOWING Here (AAAAARRRRGH) I will put it on my agneda to take some digi pics this weekend and post the beast. On the few rides I"ve taken when weather was nice, this thing is sweet and fast and comfortable.

I think that's the best feature about Felt bikes. I like mine (F85, 2002) because it's easy for me to maintain, since I'm one of the mechanically-challenged females. The frame is compact and fits me very well. It handles easily over most of the roads I ride on. I don't think I'll change to another manufacturer for my next bike, unless Felt does something stupid like using sub-par materials and workmanship. As for cons, I can't think of any, except the limited choices in colors. Yellow with accents, red with accents, black with accents or white with accents.

One of the cons that I have heard people talk about is that Felt is going through "growing pains". What I mean is they are becoming a big manufacture for bikes, but nothing compared to Trek, Gain, ect. and b/c of that they are one of the later companies to recieve group sets, wheels, ect. for other venders b/c their order size is smaller. Also (this might have changed) but when I bought mine, their frame builder build bike by size, ie. the first two week of March are 52cm, the last two week of March are 54cm, first two weeks in April 56cm, ect., so if you where unlucky to order your bike from them and they did not have the frames in stock, than you would have to wait until they recieved their next shipment of frames in your size. (I had to wait three weeks) but I am not sure if they still work this way or not.

But I have been VERY happy with mine. It even escaped being hit by a truck with only a few starches.

I have an 05' Felt F90. Everything is stock, added 2 cages, saddle bag. Got aerobars I use only when using the trainer, they are Performance Forza bars I got for $30 to rest my arms on as I play my XBOX. I don't really like them on the road, they throw off the balance when i get off the saddle. I have 573 miles on the bike since I bought it on Jan 31st. I had to replace the rear brakes pads already and the fronts will need to get swapped soon. I picked up some GIANT brake pads from the LBS. They are alot quieter then the stock pads and can stop on a dime now.

I'll post some pics later.

2004 F45
Pretty much stock with speedplay pedals, vetta v100 wireless computer and some cages/bottles
About 750 miles on it now
Has velomax circuits instead of the mavic equipes it was suppose to come with, apparently felt made the change midway through the 2004 model year but I'm happy they did, haven't had to true my wheels yet

Here's a picture sitting in the cube next to mine ...

I've got an F55, 58cm top and virtual seat tubes, about 2 months old, maybe 500 miles done.

7005 main frame, "Superlite" carbon stays and fork
Dura Ace 10 drivetrain
FSA SL-K compact 175mm cranks
Tektro brakes
Velomax Vista SL wheelset
Felt carbon seatpost
Felt alloy stem and bars
Aheadset 1 1/8
Really cheap cro-mo BB

Got it a Pegasus Cycles in Danville, CA.

I really like this bike! Fits me beautifully, handles very well, is stiff but rides well enough to use tire pressures of 110-120psi without punishment.

The carbon seatpost and stays REALLY help give a nice ride. Tektro brakes have been just fine.

Everything on the bike is of high quality, even the Velo seat. The bottom bracket may be the worst part, but I expect it to give decent service - we'll see.

Minuses - it's about a pound heavier than expected - 19.5lbs with Ultegra pedals. Spec'ed at 17.5 in 56cm without pedals.

Finally - it's really nice looking! Down-to-business matte black with all graphics incorporated in the paint, which seems very durable.

Pictures to follow.

I just bought a 2002 54cm Felt DA 700 for 1,100. It's set up with Dura Ace 9, but I'm slowly switching over to new or barely used Dura Ace 10 components. I also took off the training wheels and added a Velomax Orion wheelset and speedplay X2 pedals I've found used. It's set up for road racing and I'll probably add on Syntace C2 bars.

For the computer, I'm playing around with the Garmin Forerunner 301. Love the GPS/HRM combination!

All of this is an upgrade from a Cannondale R600 stock bike I bought right out of college. I loved my Cannondale, but wanted something I could use both for triathlons and road training. I settled on the Felt due to great reviews I found on the net, for its construction, stiffness and handling (which one site, I think trifuel.com, said both climbing and handling was better than all other tri bikes and even many road bikes).

The beautiful DA looks like it slices through air and it really does =) I don't think Felt made a 2005 DA, but they've continued the B2 which I've read is also a fantastic ride for both road and triathlons.
