OT: Illegal modding
Well, not really off topic but weve had an incident of illegal modding/white washing of some facts on certain Tommasini track frames on ebay by a mod in this forum. The discussion was about this frame https://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...%3D4%26ps%3D42 and its possible counterfeit-ness.
The main cover up was here. https://bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=392402&page=3
The mod Siu Blue Wind has illegally deleted and hid pertinent information on this matter from the forum and as a bike consumer it personally pisses me off.
If it pisses you off, feel free to voice your concerns about this kind of crap happening in this forum by posting below.

what do you mean illegal?
though i definitely agree that it was a pretty unfair and unwarranted move.

Also, the main thread on the topic was the best 7 pages of infomative writing I've ever seen in these forums. I learned a lot about the law and international commerce. It is really interesting. Now I have to be careful about what I say or I'll get an "infraction"??? WTF?

For the record, ive just contacted the founder of Bikeforums, Joe Gardner, regarding this BS matter.
Hopefully he can help get back the good info that has been deleted and help us out here.
Also, rid us of the facist type of modding that has occured here today.
Ive personally never thought BF would have mods that did this kind of juvenile crap.
Maybe ive been naive.

Joe doesn't own the forum anymore, sadly. Illegal may not be quite right, but it is distasteful.
Edit: Send a note to Internet Brands. They own the forum.

ill post a complaint. Only because i was interested in the thread.
Its a brand several people may be interested in someday and its good to know what your buying.
Im not upset about over moderating just that consumers are losing a real asset because of ONE PERSONS decision.

All those posts were deleted and the roadbike thread removed by request from the OP of the original thread.
They didn't like being called out for posting what they did.
The main coverup was removal of 7 pages in the other forum, not the fixie forum.

Roadbikes has their own wascally wabbit
This is MrRabbit...
Real life name is Robert Shackelford of San Jose, CA.
I hereby formally request that administrators and moderators of bikeforums.net discontinue the deletion of existing threads and posts that are both related to the recent Tommasini issue - and unrelated to the recent Tommasini issue.
While I can live with the closing or locking of threads in the so-called interests of "ending a cyclic seemingly unresolvable issue"...I take issue with deletions in that they carry with them the odor of censorship, overbearing administration, favoritism, and other applicable feelings or objectifiable labels that can be applied by myself and others.
Furthermore I must point out that some posts amount to technical, historical or assistive information materials and if those are getting deleted - then substantive and valuable information is getting lost to the Unix equivalent of /dev/null otherwise know as the black hole.
If deletions are actually occuring - as opposed to current and archived thread view blocking - once again please discontinue such actions.
Respectfully yours...

We're working on this. I think most of the moderators that are discussing this agree with much of what you are saying, we just need some time to sort it all out. Sometimes we lock threads while we decide how to handle the issue, when you start 17 new threads it just makes it harder for us to deal with.

Illegal Modding?
On the interwebs? Private site, public forum... uh unless the mods are posting bad kiddie pics under your name or something similar, I am pretty sure they are able to do whatever they want.
Does it suck, yes. Is it illegal... I doubt it.

All the post that were deleted from the thread here in our forums was not started by the Tommasini guy.
He just didnt like the facts being laid out for everyone on that ebay frame and the mod came in at his request and deleted the information and threatened us all to stop the discussion of the frame.
And when i said illegal i didnt mean in regards to state law. I meant in the confines of this forum and common sense.

This sucks.
Does RideTommasini advertise here on Bikeforums?
For the record:
I started the thread here just because I was interested in the Tommasini/Gorilla frameset on Ebay.
I will start a new one if necessary.

it is just not that thread. Unwarranted thread deletion has been going on for sometime lately around here. A mod will "PERSONALLY" disagree with the subject or get offended and blip...it's gone.
i love the "deleted due to OP's request" Just because you started a thread does not give that same person the right to void everyone else's thoughts.
