Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Uhm hate to say this but Contrador and Levi made the move to Astana knowing exactly what they were running into. I am sure there may be a last minute repreive for the team. Given it really isn't the same. And if they don't it will be a another statement as the last years winner isn't there..

does NOT change the fact that Astana has changed completely and only holds the same sponsorship name.

Even with 1,000,000 votes, it probably won't get Astana back in the Tour [or less importantly, the Giro].
I signed anyway. I like the illusion of making a difference.

If Rabobank and all other teams which had doping scandals during the tour can race, then I don't see why they aren't letting Astana. Christ, some of the other teams which had positive test last year still don't even have internal controls. I kinda like that they aren't in the tour but I still think it makes no sense and that its going to make it even harder for teams to find sponsors.

Once teams, people, sponsors take their money and tourism dollars (or whatever they're called in France) the tour organizers will take notice and stop this b.s. How bad does it look when they won't let 2 podium finishers race?

I'm getting a bad taste in my mouth from the French.. and it's not of escargot...

His wife's hot. They should put him in just so we can see her in interviews.

Can you imagine motorpacing behind Odessa?

What if you support Levi, but not Astana?

Can we have a petition that basically says: "Levi, you should've known better than to join that team.
We love you, man, but we'd expect smarter moves on your part. Consider breaking your contract, son."

It looks like a big ad for trek. Check out their homepage.
Think about it, they have people checking out Levi which leads to them checking out Astana, which inevitably leads to people looking at the new madones. The petition works, and they get coverage from the tours, it doesn't they still have lots more web traffic. Win-win in my book.

Levi could have signed with a number of other teams. He signed with one of the shadier ones. Tough luck.

He did not sign with last year's Astana. Do you really think Bryuneel, Levi, Contador are that stupid? If you listened to his press conference (check the fredcast) he stated that he had no clue they would do this to the riders and the organizers had plenty of time to kick Astana out, rather than waiting for the off-season contracts to be set into stone.

The teams should boycott the TdF. I don't understand how and why they let themselves get thrown around like they do with organizations that do not make fair rules or follow their own rules. All they talk about is doping now in their team presentations. It's sickening. I'm glad I'm not a new fan trying to get into cycling now or I'd wonder WTF is wrong with everyone because all they talk about is doping.

People think this is about team membership and its leadership (not that those are squeaky clean either). It's about punishing the sponsor.

It's about punishing the fans of cycling. Pure B.S. Astana is riding in the Tour of California
