My apologies to the forum!
I don't post much here but I've been lurking a while. About 7 months ago I weighed 257 and a couple months after that I bought my first bike.
Between running and riding I'm now under 200 lbs which probably technically means I'm not a Clyde anymore.
Can I still lurk here? I gain a heck of a lot of knowledge and motivation from this place.
John

57 pounds in 5 months is a helluva accomplishment! Care to share your secrets? (Not like I'd use them anyhow )
Sure you can lurk here, or anywhere for that matter. Who will know?
And finally, congratulations on getting out of Clyde status.

No magic bullet. Just a lifestyle change, and lots of hard work and dedication.
I counted calories using a program called CalorieKing. For seven months I have consumed no more than 2000 calories net per day. If I exercised 1000 cals per day that means I could eat 3000 cals per day.
Didn't mean I always did that but the program permits it.
Anyway it was 2000 cals a day and either a run or a bike ride or a swim or a long walk everyday. Many days it was two or more of those things.
I still want to lose 20 lbs. No doubt in my mind I will.

We love ex-clydes too. I think you should hang around, and dont be shy about posting either. We have several members here who were never clydes but they like this subforum because the attitude here is one of support.
Congrats on the weight loss BTW. Got before/after pics?

Congrats on the weight loss and mostly the life style change. The later is what made the former actually come off. Stick around and post up. I plan on posting here after I get to the under 200 range. This is a great place with a lot of great people in it.

No one cares
nice!
i just lost 90 pounds in 200 days. I did something similiar to you, only consuming around 2200 cals a day, lots of exercise, running, biking, swimming. I drink a lot of water, get enough sleep, etc etc.
I'm going to participate in my first triathlon this june. I'm nervous about it but I can't wait.
I guess i'm still in the clydesdale area at 208ish , 6'3", but I'm ok with that. I might eventually get below 200, but my ideal weight according to bmi (which is probably low for me due to muscle mass) is 197.
I already posted this once, but here it is again:
Anyway, congrats to you! Wanna race?
j/k

holiday76.....
Excellent point. I also drink a lot of water and feel that it's a very vital component to losing weight. I also try to eat or drink some kind of yogurt everyday.
Another thing that I think has helped is soymilk. I'm not lactose intolerant or anything like that but I just love soymilk.
Tom........Thanks for the certificate. I've been trying to PM you but the server keeps dropping so you either have 3 or 4 thank you's or none in your inbox. Anyway, I greatly appreciate the certificate. Very cool.
Thanks to everybody for your kind comments. The weight loss occurred over 7 months, not 5 though. I got the bike about that time but I've been running since before that. I started out with a department store Schwinn and didn't enjoy it that much. Before I decided to ditch the idea of bike riding I went out and bought a Trek 1.5 from a local shop here in Okinawa. Best move I ever made. I love every minute on the bike.

You should look around your area and see if there are bike races being held and try out a few, see if you like it.

cyclokitty.......I can't ride LIKE the wind but I can ride WITH the wind!!!!
Just pulled a quick 1 hour ride at lunch and man did it feel good. Seems like somedays the wind is always in your face and the hills are uphill both ways.
Today it seemed just the opposite. As it should be.

Remember, you can always just load those pockets up with quarters to sneak back in.
