Dura Ace or [something else]?
Just get the Dura Ace and you'll never have to worry about anything ever again, but most importantly whether or not you made the right choice. No one will ever be able to assume you're poor, trendy, stupid, crazy, wealthy or a poseur.
It's not trendy, and it's not the best, lightest, most expensive or best looking. But the stuff just works.

Sure, go for shamino dura ace if you want to hamstring yourself.
If not, then upgrade to sram red or, even better, campagnolo chorus.
If you truly don't want to be struggling with a boat anchor then campagnolo record is the way forward.

As long as your brakes work, your drivetrain is quiet, and your chain won't skip in mid sprint, I couldn't care any less what you've got on your bike if I'm riding with you.

I ride alone and these things are still important to me. The more D-A goes on my bike the less problems I have. Sometimes when pondering component purchases, I'll consider a lighter alternative, perhaps a bit flashier or even less expensive. Then I think of how godawful my last carbon crankset was.

If dura-ace is so great then why have I never even considered it for one of my bikes? Personally, I'd rather have centaur than dura-ace. Just me though.

Reading this thread, somehow, I just had an epiphany. I was going to go Red for the RS2 (yeah, the one I'm not supposed to build till next winter). I'm going with the Ultegra SL.
