A bike racing pal of mine is in the midst of a nasty divorce. He recently dropped about 7 large on a new Trek Madone road bike. His soon to be Ex says in a mediation meeting with the lawyers that she wants the racing bikes added to the Community Property list. My pal almost blows his gasket, and says: 'Fine, remember that $35K BMW I bought you 3 years ago, let's add that too.'
She dropped the subject : ).

Since my previous entry got nixed, here's entry number 2. I'm not gonna weigh it, mostly because I don't really care. I threw everything into a spreadsheet, though, and even using rather liberal weights came in way under 15.
'08 CR1 SL Frame/Fork (size 52)
Ritchey WCS Cockpit
SRAM Red everywhere except the crank/front D which is DA. Cassette is also Red.
Ksyrium SL wheels, just to make sure it qualifies for this thread....

[AlanS]I haven't read the other 13 pages of this thread. However, I have sound advice for all of you who have purchased impossibly light and expensive bikes: it's the OnGuard Beast bicycle lock. Only 9.5 lbs.[AlanS]
Who locks up? Not me.

Giant TCR ZERO Aluminum build 13.72 lbs.
This bike had over 2500 km before I took it apart to make the frame into a single speed bike. The reason for taking it apart is because most of the parts are going on my new pedal force build that will be under 13 lbs and I will ride that as much as possible. Light and rideable for sure.

Here's my friend on his Calfee. It is either 13 grand and 10 lbs or 10 grand and 13 lbs, I can't remember. Beryllium tubes made by Bowing, paint shifts from green to purple in the sun. It's amazing.

Throw the stick!!!!
Of the two options I would have to go with 10 grand and 13 pounds.

Am I seeing this right? Can you see the flex in the spokes on the rear wheel, or is it just something with the photo?

Looks like motion blur. The farther from the hub, the faster the movement, so the wheel ends of the spokes move a lot further than the hub ends during the duration of the exposure.

This is as good a place as any to ask this question that has been bugging me.
How do the bike mfgs. weigh bikes. There are lots of advertised sub 15 and sub 16 bikes out there with stock kits that don't seem to add up to being that light of a bike. Do they weigh the bikes with tires and tubes? With bar tape? Or do they just add up the bogus component manuf. weights to get to their weight?

Thx Ninja!
Actually, I just installed RED shifters. I like the look of them, but functionally they are very similar to Force. Perhaps, when prices come down and the budget allows, I may upgrade the entire group to RED.
