Clyde and Athena Spring 2008 Goals

This was a good idea, so let's start a new one

I'd like to propose a challenge to the Clydes & Athenas!

A) If you haven't done a metric century yet....by May 30th, 2008, have a 62 mile ride under your belt

B) If you've done the metric, then by the same date, have a century under the belt.

C) If you've already done a century, do a double metric century.

D) If you've already done a double metric - double century.

E) If you're like Tom - triple century

Rules of the challenge:
1: You can use SAG support
2: Pictures are a must!
3: Post your route, using either Gmaps Pedometer or Google Earth map image with waypoints posted.
4: Must complete this in a 24 hr period
5: Post your intent on the Clyde forum, listing date and planned begin/end points so we can wish you well!
6: Post ride report is a must, whether you finish it or not! No shame if ya don't finish, it's far better to try and learn from a DNF than to never try at all. The victory though is truly sweet!
7: Helmet required (Safety!)

Also feel free to note goals by the next date: November 30th 2008!

I'd like to have completed 2 Centuries by the time Spring 2008 rolls around. If my wheel situation works itself out I'll be golden

One of these rides I'd love to be up to Bear Mountain...but I'm not sure how possible that will be.

Not to bump the old thread but I got up to a little over 100 miles on that ride out to Montauk, got SAGed when I helped a few people with stuff. I did feel great by the end though, the only part stopping me now are the wheels.

By November 2008 I want to have a sub 6 hour Century under my belt and at least one trip up to Bear Mountain, more likely 2.

I did my first metric and imperial century this year. So I guess that leaves a double metric by 5/31/08. As long as I keep wearing the trainer out this winter that sound doable.

Also, by the end of next year I would like to do at least two other century rides with at least one of them being sub 6 hours. Plus I'd like to do the MS150 Jack & Back ride next year.

Also, at least 3000 miles next year.

Oh, I almost forgot. I'd like to do my first triathalon this summer. It will be a short one. I just want to finish it (I suck at swimming)

A) If you haven't done a metric century yet....by May 30th, 2008, have a 62 mile ride under your belt
Have done many... just did one yesterday (Actually 72 miles)

B) If you've done the metric, then by the same date, have a century under the belt.
Ditto - many - last one, however was a year ago.

Same answer for the next three... no, don't wanna! Have done enough centuries to know that distance is good enough for me! I did, about 15 years ago, ride 133 miles in one day. I was in fairly good shape and the ride was easy but that was 15 years ago and I was obviously much younger. My goal for next year, is to get back into decent shape, lose the weight I gained this year (about 15 lbs) and enjoy riding. Training days are over!

C) If you've already done a century, do a double metric century.

D) If you've already done a double metric - double century.

E) If you're like Tom - triple century

I doubt if I will complete it that early in the year, but I'll set the goal...

I did a metric about 18 months ago, but didn't ride much at all this year, so I will target a metric by May 30th.

My goal for the spring is a cross state ride. Pretty much a credit card tour. I have one other coworker willing to suffer as well. I mapped it out last fall. We are planning on doing it over 3-4 days not 24 hrs. Its ~280 miles. Were not exactly sure when just yet, but I will say before June. Can I still play?
Here is the route.

OK I'm in. This year I did my first two solo centuries, both in June, then a double century in July. So anything's possible, just don't think I can squeeze in a 300 mile effort. For me that would definately involve lights.

2008 Goals:

1. Complete a double metric by May 30.
2. Improve time on July double century (STP) to 13 hours total time, sub 11 hours saddle time.
3. Ride RAMROD - 120 miles with 10,000 feet elevation (dependent on lottery issued ride slots, however).
4. 5,000 miles by 12/31/08.
5. Keep weight down to 215/220.

(Boy, I'm gonna need some new wheels and a better saddle.)

I should be game by then, for at least a metric, although I was planning on doing one anyway by my 47th birthday (June 18th), considering that the season doesn't often start until mid April, I will to hold my original schedule, first 100km week by May 24th, first 100km day by June 18th.....

Ok, I've done "A"-"C" too many times to count, "D" 22 times and "E" 3 times (E is just a long day 21 hours). So what kind of crazy thing would "F" be?

My goals next year are really ride anywhere and everywhere! Improve my climbing and all out speed.

I've done and finished 2 imperial Centuries, dropped 2 one at 75miles the other at a Hilly 50.

I would like to attempt a Double later next year.

Hey, I'll hopefully be participating in a couiple of those same events. I'm sure we'll cross paths eventually! Things got a bit busy the last few weeks (Thanksgiving plans - go figure) so I dropped the ball on planning a ride to get together with you & doghouse . If not this fall/winter, then definitely next spring. I will look forward to you smoking me up a couple hills since I'm a youngster (44) .

(makes mental note to work harder on the trainer to avoid getting smoked by old guy)

(whistles quitely & walks away)

I really haven't thought about 2008 yet, other than:

1) Commute more. I'm trying to ride in bad weather/winter, so far it's not working (har)
2) Bag Mt Evans
3) a solo imperial century by May 30
4) at least two 3-day weekend credit card tours
