86 Serotta Nova Campagnolo - Paint Teaser Pics & More!
I finally got my Serotta Nova Super Record back from David Cheakas at Southwest Frameworks. The color is Lexus Matador Red Mica, which I promptly realized is very very difficult to photograph indoors. I'll have to get some more photos outside when the sun comes back out and the build gets going.
But for now here are a few teaser pictures. Build is going to be full 80's Campagnolo Super Record for now. It will likely eventually get a Campagnolo Chorus/Record 10sp group.
Now for the photos:
Here's a photo of a Lexus with the color on it:
And here's what it looked like before the paint job:

Parts list and pictures can be found in the Serotta thread that is linked in my signature.
Full super record, 7sp tubular wheels, silver cable housings, cinelli up front, aero levers, and Keo pedals just because they're on all my other bikes.
Need to have the headset installed before I do too much building, but as soon as that's started, lots more photos to come.

First couple of parts installed:
beautiful fluted Campagnolo Super Record seatpost, Selle Italia Flite saddle, the rear brake and of course the bottle cages. I have to pick up the front fork in a few days, so I'll hold off installing more parts till then.
Full set of photos from before and after paint can be found here: https://photos.thecuda.com/igallery.asp?d=\serotta\

Modern bits? Sounds like a plan. Granted, my old Centurion is no Serotta, but I was more than willing to install a complete '06 Veloce group for the comfort of commuting. I absolutely love it, even though the dang thing weighs 28lbs with all the gear.

I've got a partial modern group now that's more or less hanging on the Gazelle.
06 Record Crank / BB, 06 Centaur brakes, 07 front derailleur w/ a 28.6 clamp conversion, and I'll be putting a 06 Record threaded headset on it instead of the S-Record that came on it. The original is still in good shape, but getting too good of a deal on the new one to pass it up. The original will go to a worthy bike of another member soon I'm sure.
The story behind the fork is kind of a funny one. Apparently the wife of another rider came by David's shop night before last to pick up a frame. A red frame, which didn't have a fork with it. She apparently thought my fork went with her husband's bike... so, David has to get my fork back. Oh well, had to go back down to his shop to have the headset installed anyways.

I do have a question about the Headset you're installing. It's Record threaded? I'm just curious, as it has the black in it. It looks great if you have some black bits to to go into the group. I opted for the Chorus headset because it is solid silver alloy. Either way, it's going to look gorgeous with that red. I honestly can't wait to see the finished build. This is going to be sweet. I'm already keeping close tabs on this thread.
Have you already got a set of wheels/bars/stem, etc in mind?
For some reason, I keep thinking a custom built, yet more classic silver wheelset with alloy bits will make that bike explode with class.
Heck, I can't wait to see which bar tape you choose to finish it off.

Yeah, it's the new Record with a little black in it. I have the same one on my Gazelle now, and I'm picking this one up locally from a BF's member.
Complete Parts list (suppose after this I should rename the thread )
1986 Serotta Nova Super Record frame & fork - Columbus SL steel
Campagnolo Super Record group - complete minus brake levers
Tektro R200A brake levers. "Tektro" name removed from silver lever
110mm Cinelli XA Stem - anodizing stripped and aluminum polished
Cinelli 66-42 Belgium Drop bar - single cable groove for aero levers
Selle Italia Flite Gel Flow saddle
Braided silver cable housings.
Campy hubs - front Campy & rear Mavic rim tubular wheelset - 12-21 7sp freewheel
Campy hubs - Campy(?) clincher rim wheelset - 12-24 7sp freewheel
And I'm going to hold off saying what bar tape... just to keep a few elements of surprise.
P.S. - the link in my signature goes to the original thread about this bike when I first got it which has TONS of photos of the group and a few of the other parts.
