Should I find this highly entertaining? And my one gripe with my bike.
Got out on the DMR for a street session today. Was taking a break from riding when some guy walking a hardrock to a lbs comments to me that I should return the bike to walmart. Wound up telling that my rear wheel is worth more than his bike was when new. He didn't believe me at first, he then noticed the raceface parts, rock shox fork and King Headset, he suddenly went silent. I wanted to laugh in the guys face so bad, but held back.
Guess this is what to expect when having a bike that isn't very common in the country.
The one thing that really annoys me with this bike is the weak paint on it. Only had it for a couple of months now, have numerous paint chips, and have hose rub on it from the rear hydro hose. Oh well, it will look much worse by the end of the summer.

Wow, what a loser. Was his hardrock all stock?
I'm trying to get a hold of a used dmr frame for my park bike.

Was a stock hardrock. I couldn't come up with this, this just struck me as entertaining. I just had to share it.

RE the paint - Salsa's putting his bike together, and has the frame leaning on a white-painted shelf, with a rag between the frame & the shelf. So his Dad says "let me get this straight - you need to pad the frame from the shelf, so you can put this bike together, and then spend the next 6 months smashing through the woods?" "Yup", replies Salsa.

I remember water skiing one time and a person laugh at our Master Craft boat, thinking it was a Canadian Tire Job.
For those south of the border, Master Craft is a Canadian Tire Brand Name, not synonymous with Master Craft Competition ski boats.

Now, I am not defending the newb, as he is a jackass just by saying that, but......
Why get bent out of shape and have to defend your bike when some newb doesn't understand your bikes ubercoolness?
Just let him be a jackass and keep going.

And yes, in some cases there should be a certain measure of respect for someone's bike. When we first built our tandem, it had custom titanium discs. Why strangers felt the need to touch them, I'll never know. But a less ignorant person would know better than to put their oily mitts on my braking surface.

well, to keep people from rubbing their oily hands all over your disc brakes would you say;
1. hey , don't touch the discs as it will contaminate the braking surface. Oils and dirt on your hand screw up my brakes, newb.
or
2. hey, don't touch my $1000 ti disc brakes man!! they are worth more than your entire bike and house probably. If you ever disrepect me like that again I will have to deliver a smackdown on your poor ass!!
Jeez, didn't you even see my chris king headset?
Don't look at me anymore and please walk away in shame.

Hopefully they like to check out your discs after a nice, long downhill.
