Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Specialized sit bone measuring tool

Anyone have a picture of what this looks like? I always hear people saying specialized has a tool that measures your sitbones and tells you what width saddle to get. Does this measurement work for all saddles or just specialized saddles?

i did a google search and couldnt find anything.
Thanks

At my LBS, it's on the bench near the shoes. When you're sitting, trying on shoes, it has a little spot on the end of the bench...assuming it's a Specialized bench.

Mine was black, about 16"x8" with some black memory foam on it that shows your ass print.

I used one last month at an LBS. It looks like a large dog bone shaped piece of foam. You sit so your butt puts indents in the foam, but be sure that when you get up you mark the indents with your fingers. The foam didnt hold the print for more than a split second.

i worked at a shop where we had one. it doesn't really work the way you would want it to. the foam goes back to it's original form before you can see what size saddle would be best for a customer.

I found (to the manager's chagrin) that if you lie face-down on it, it serves a much more noble purpose.
