The Bike Box.... What do ya think ?
Here is the current state of my Trunk Box project.
It locks with a key
It holds my crap [wallet, rain shell, tube, patch kit, pump, mini-tool. couple bungie cords, lunch, and misc goodies]
It looks uber geeky
I have a couple LED kits on order to build into the reflector area. It will have 8 flashing High Intensity LEDs built into the red lens area with a waterproof switch on the outside.
After that is quick release rack mount, then hard sided locking panniers...Having a hard time finding the shells for those.
What cha think ?

Once I install the Quick Release rack mount, it will be a bit cleaner.

I have an almost identical box on my eBike. And I have a LED taillight built into the reflector area as well.
Look to the right. There's the "touring kit" which I have. The box looks pretty much exactly like yours.
All I did is take an off the shelf rear taillight with 2 LEDs. I disassembled it and mounted it to the inside of the box with the LEDs poking through holes behind the lens. The switch is on the inside of the box, which I don't mind.
It works perfect.
I'll take pictures of the box and my mods if you want.

Some of the side mounting hard shell 'panniers' used by motorcycles might work. If a bit heavy. A sawzall will open that box about as fast as a carton cutter will open a cloth bag. I take everything but the bike into stores with me.

I'm too lazy to take all my stuff out, that's why I wanted a lock. Yeah you can most likely open it with a screwdriver, hammer, or perhaps even an impressive karate chop... but who want's to steal an innertube and lime green shell ?
The box is really not heavy, it's all the crap I tend to haul that puts the weight on. As a commuterI don't really care about weight that much. You haul it up the hill, it makes you go faster down the hill. End result...sexy biker legs.
I was lookin around at the motorcycle panniers.. waaay too big and heavy for a bicycle. I'll keep fishing around, something will bubble up.
