Chicago: Bike Love. An event.

So, I've talked with some of y'all about this already, but here's the deal...
Lots of folks have had exchanges something like this:
"Damn, I wish I was better at [insert bike skill]."
"Dude, I could totally show you how."
and then nothing happens.

Thus, the idea.

BIKE LOVE, an afternoon of sharing what you know and learning what you don't.

I'd volunteer my yard/deck, since we have a grill and a hose and beer and folks could bbq and wash their bikes and drink, too, but if anyone's yard is big and grill is warm, it's cool.
I'm thinking Sunday July 23rd around 4pm. (We could have a pre-ride too, if folks are down.)

Clearly, it's just an idea, a work in progress, if you will, but would folks want to come? (Does the date work?)
What could you teach, or what would you want to learn?

example: yeah, I'm down. i want to learn more about maintaining freewheel hubs and i can teach wheelbuilding.

Totally there. Bringing twelve-er of Goose Island. The wheelbuilding part would be awesome. I could just sit in the corner and give trackstand demonstrations- that'd be my contribution.

I'm down but I ride gears and have very little *knowledge* that I can impart with my pants on.

I'm going to Pitchfork but I don't know any of you... plus, I'm going to be with my pregnant wife which means lawn chairs and relative sobriety.

also:
Bike Film Festival in Chicago, Aug 4-6. I talked to Brent; he said it will happen. I know some people said they would help out when this initially was mentioned - where are you now? The balloon has gone up. Help, from what I can tell, means you can assist with getting local sponsors/help.
If you have ideas or contacts (who are committed to helping out), let me know via PM and I will get them to Brent ASAP. Thanks!

Can't wait to get back from Mpls, Bike Love sounds good. I want to learn all about bottom brackets! It seems like this might be a nice opportunity to swap as well
