Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

In the beginning...

...a boy dreamed of building a third bike. His wife chuckled the first time he mentioned it (and not in a jolly way). See, the boy already had a relatively new road bike and an almost new tri-bike. Did he need a new bike? No. Does that really matter? Again, no.

The project has begun. A frameset was purchased last night. All other components are up for discussion as to what should be placed on said frame (Campy? Shimano? This is going to be fun!).

Behold the newest addition to the fold:

Disclosure: Just so you don't think I am a spoiled brat, I had to agree to sell the road bike to help fund the new project...

Total up your cable TV bill for the last three years.
Total up your alcohol bill for the last year.
Add them.
Divide by 1.5
That's how much you get to spend on your upgrade.

I too grasshopper am going through the same thing. My wife has no clue that I have a bike frame on the way from Pedal Force and all these damn new components in my home office that are increasingly hard to hide. Especially that damn wheel set!

I could tell her I procured it from a lab cleanup but she would know better. I could tell her I won it in a raffle but she knows that I have bad luck! I could tell her the truth, I don't think so Jim!

Is that one wheel or two? Do you get hit with import duties also?

That's for two wheels. Who knows...from what I have read here on the forums, it is hit or miss on the duties. Some have to pay, some don't. I am sure it depends on whether the duties inspector is a cyclist or not!

if he got a fixie he wouldnt need any other bikes or want to ride them, they'd become big expensive paper weights

Cool, where are you ordering from? I'm thinking about getting a few of those parts, and those are pretty good prices.

Beef: That list is a tentative order from 11speed.com... Probikekit.com also has good deals on Campy components.
