Toeclippers - what shoes do you use?
Subject pretty much says it all: if you use toeclips, what shoes do you wear when riding?

my puma speedcats or converse allstars. I'm in the market for a shoe with a stiffer sole though. I've read that a lot of pony's have "Board Lasted Contruction" which i thnink means stiffer sole. Anybody have a pair or any info? Cheers

ditto. i have a couple pairs of pumas that are ok. most old-school sneakers that aren't running style have reasonably stiff soles.
i would still like something stiffer though

I was thinking about getting some climbing approach shoes for riding with toeclips as they should have a pretty stiff sole and the rubber up around the toe

My Puma jones predates the whole Team thing, I swear to god. Anjans (moderately stiff sole, super comfy), Elites (very stiff sole, tough to break in [at least in leather], not as comfy), Fuegos (walks the line between Anjan's comfort and Elite's utility), or 5000M (not all that practical, they just look pretty). I always get the laces of Chucks caught on the clips, and Vans are too wide and flat for me to ride in comfortably.

They're on closeout everywhere, so a deal if you can find your size.

Any indoor soccer shoes, I like adidas shell toes the best.
Vans are too soft, rockport dress shoes are crazy comfy too. Weird, but then I live on the bike.
New Balance are lousy, they are really cushy(robs you of pedalling power), wide in the front, and the sole gets caught in the retaining back wall of sylvan type pedals.
I am focusing on NB's cause they are so common and I used them for a while when I stood all day and rode mostly too and from work (ten minutes).
Try some indoor soccer shoes (no tread, thick sole, shell toe is best).

Sambas or Vans Hi-tops. The hi-tops get super locked into my clips/double straps but they're definitely pretty soft. Sambas are just kick ass for biking.
