Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I tried the Giant OCR1 '05 at the LBS and loved it. The salesguy told me there was about a 10 week wait for the blue color. He showed me a picture of the silver and it looked alright and neutral. So i went ahead and ordered it in silver since I could get it in less then a week. When I went to pick up the bike, the salesguy had this worried look and told me the color was not completely what he expected. He said it was very pinkish and was aimed for the ladies market. He said Giant received many complaints about their bike lines being too masculine and they must've soften up on this one. I thought he was messing around but he wasn't. He even offered to work something out if I didn't like the color. When I saw the bike, my jaw almost dropped. I was like 'o boy, $950 for something i might not like asthetically'. After I removed some pink color stickers off the wheel, it didn't look quite as feminine. This is just a warning to all you guys that are afraid of being girlish Make sure you see the SILVER OCR1 in person before you order it to make sure you are satisfied.

I took it. I figured road bikes are pretty colorful.

Stock Photo on Giant Website I must've been color blind when I saw this photo prior to getting the bike. I looked at many times and I didn't see the pink in it.

I can't help but laugh . It looks like a beautiful bike besides the pink part, and it IS misleading, because you really can't see the pink on the website. I have looked at it on both my monitors, and neither show the pink at all. I think you ought to give Giant an email about that. Are the pink lines just decals that might peel off? What if you took some colored tape and went over all of the pink with a more "masculine" color like green (which should look great on the silver). I don't really know what to tell you besides have fun with your beautiful new bike, I bet you can't even tell it's pink from a distance.

Giant's colours on their website are ALWAYS wrong. My boss ordered a TCX and it arrived completely different than as shown. We have had this problem a lot. I think the pink could be passed off as a tie to the TMobile team, if anyone gives you flack for riding a pink bike.

I saw one today in my LBS for the first time. It is pink, but I bet it rides the same as a non-pink bike. Enjoy it.

Really, that doesn't look bad. The pink stitching on the saddle may be a bit much, but that's easy enough to change. If you like that saddle, with an indelible marker you could make the stitching any darker color you want on that black saddle. How are you at pinstriping? You could add a more masculine color if you want (dark or light blue, dark green or black) to compliment or contrast the pink. I think that pink and white on silver is more asthetically pleasing than a lot of other factory color combos that are out there.

That's a great idea on the saddle. I think it was overkill to make the saddle with the pink stitching. I'll probably color it out. I'm fine with the frame color as it is. None of my friends have seen it yet. The only reactions I have are from the salesguy who probably wouldn't take the bike if it was free with the look i saw on his face. The girl cashier said it was cute which was not much of an ecouragement I'm happy with the bike so far. I'm going to shoot an email to Giant to let them know their photo is very misleading. Lucky for them I'm an easy going person.

Where was that string where that guy took the paint off his Scattante and it looked great?

Seriously, it will ride fine, but it does look girlie. It can't hurt to complain to Giant customer service. Maybe you'll get some kind of positive response - a new paint job, a better saddle, a poster of Jan - something!

Probably just a situation where he was afraid you wouldn't want it and he has a car payment due.

I will go for a pink bike, or maby even purple. As long as its not construction worker orange, i'd ride it.

I agree with most, the only over the top feminine piece is the saddle stitching, everything else is fine. Nice bike.

There is nothing wrong with any shade of orange...it's the new black!

You don't like orange? Does that mean you don't like this?

You need to put a T-Mobile sticker on it ASAP. Now you've got an excuse.

Seriously......Pink on guys is all the rage these days. I was at a NORBA mountain bike race last year and was roaming around in the pits and came to the Kona factory tent. One of their men riders had a pink road bike that he was warming up on. It was the coolest bike Ive seen in a while.....Dont sweat it!

Might be backlash from the mentality that pink is girlish. It's evolved to a point where a guy wearing pink means he's secure enough to not let it bother him, and women seem to like that kind of security and confidence.

T-Mobile is magenta.... ;-) this is powder-puff pink. ;-) ... of course they're both great colors.
