Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? forget kashimax, roll your own

1. go to the hardware store and buy a foot of clear, 1" tubing (cost you about a buck).
2. slice the tubing lengthwise
3. place tubing on your toptube (it'll stick by itself)
4. profit!

OR

4. take the money you saved by not buying a kashimax and spend it on beer and pie.

I used the extra wide rubber band that came with my cane creek headset. cut it, then wrapped it around a few times. then a couple loops of some electrical tape. it's been on there about a year and I think the rubber band has fused it's self together. all I know is it ain't coming off with-out leaving a mess.

And why did I think this thread was going to be about the Five Gold saddle? Sitting on it is not unlike sitting on tubing.

But the Kashimax top tube protector is only $39.99. Can you really put a price on top tube protection? Yes you can and fortunately for all of us, Kashimax already has. Ride into the future proudly knowing that the ebay resale of your bike won't be damaged by obligatory aesthetic and structural badmouthing in the fixed/SS for sale thread.

You could always take some extra t-shirts that wont fit in your dresser anyways, cut them up and wrap 'em around.

i don't like cluttered top tubes. if i did ride drops--which i don't because they suck--i'd put grips on to prevent dinging. did i say that i think drops suck?

personally i'm a fan of bar tape which matches your, well..., bar tape.
even better if you do it for a chainstay protector too.

Whether you like top tube protectors or not, I think we can all agree dolface has found a good alternative to kashimax protectors. Waydago dolface.

Nice! I think it's perfect solution for protecting your top tube from getting scratched, scuffed, and dinged when parking your bike. Does that only happen to me?? Every single scratch my De Rosa has on the top tube has come from my lock, or somebody trying to fit their bike on the same parking meter, or the frame getting knocked against a meter.

Is your room always a mess or did you open your underwear drawer on purpose for the photo?

My two cents (and my old pursuit style, Tange 1, ParkPre street/track bike) from a FGG thread.
