Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ride the Bike of your Dreams for...

only $ 200.00 delivered to your door via UPS, for you to ride a whole week, loaded with high end components.

This seems to be the promise and commitment by the DEMO PROGRAM of Competitive Cyclist:

https://www.competitivecyclist.com/za/CCY?PAGE=DEMO_HOME

Has anybody try out this program ?

It looks like the ideal option to finally ride one of those high end bikes we wouldn't be able
to ride otherwise. At a cost of course.

I'd wish they had more brands and models available though.

haha... the agreement you have to sign is pretty funny.

Great idea, though, especially for folks who live in areas not served by high-end shops.

I'm gonna ride the hell out of it, then fill the inside with concrete so it's like 25 lbs when I return it.

That's about $ 29.00 a day (rental), not bad if you seriously love and consider buying a certain brand/model but can't decide because not sure of how it actually rides or if it'll fit you at all. They will give you a $ 100.00 credit towards the bike (not the actual demo) if you decide to purchase it within 60 days.

Do you have to pay for return shipping?

Sorry, Pete, but I think I'd blow your frame to bits when I crank it up to 400W

This would be a serious option for a vacation, like going to visit friends somewhere. The bike could be delivered to their house and be waiting on you.

would be great, except for the constant fear of damaging it at all and then being charged to replace said part(s).

I think I'll demo an R3 when it gets nicer out. My only problem will be if I happen to really, really like it afterwards.

Got any friends at UPS? Maybe they could "lose it" for you.

If this was taken out of context...

I could not do any of these bikes justice, but what an interesting idea.

The Pusher

Why does this remind me of that old Steppenwolf song, "The Pusher"?

You know the dealer, the dealer is a man
With the love bike in his hand
Oh but the pusher is a monster
Good God, he's not a natural man
The dealer for a nickel
Lord, will sell you lots of sweet dreams
Ah, but the pusher ruin your wallet
Lord, he'll leave your, he'll leave your mind to scream

Apologies to Hoyt Axton

January only offer? If you got one this weekend you would need snow tires to try it out.

Been there, seen the bikes. It's a good honest deal and yes, they'd like for you to love the bike and buy one. Great way to try a high end bike.
