Magazine ???...Is Bicycling the one?
I had a subscription to Bicycling Magazine but it has expired...just wondering if it's the best mag for current roadie news. I liked the mag but would be interested in trying others.
I tried Search function but no luck......appreciate any thoughts.

But really, go to any Borders or B&N magazine section and flip through the five or six different mags you'll find there. Pick the one you like.
I've never looked through Bicycling, as it's not so common in the UK, but I've heard it's crap and just recycles the same stories every few months...

Although I did renew my subscription to Bicycling; however, I am a big fan of Road Bike Action Magazine (www.roadbikeaction.com). It was like $20 for a year (or cheaper) but they have a good balance of Pro tour stuff with improvements in your own riding (climbing, nutritrion, descending, suppliers, parts and certian rides for all of us, who are looking for something different.

Bicycling is garbage- they try to appeal to many constituents, and in the process satisfy no one. Plus, I saw their publisher this summer at a party in NYC at Tourneau, and he was a complete jamoke. Embarassing, really.
I second the Road Bike Rider suggestion. Horrible art direction (almost amateurish), but they do cover road bikes.

Bicycling's audience never visits these here forums. As hard as it may be to believe, the magazine exists and will thrive despite members of BF.
To answer the OP, save your loot .. do what botto said. Fresh news ALL the time.

I usually go with Cycling+. Lots of road bike reviews and comparisons also occasionally tri and touring as well. LOTS of product/accessories/kit reviews also. Only drawbacks are $10 an issue (it's a Brit mag) and the "local rides" section doesn't apply to us.

I also read Cycle Sport America front to back every issue. Stellar stuff.
These are both Road Euro focused

I'm here. Long time subscriber to the mag. I'm not a roadie racer groupie like some folks on BF. I just like cycling and Bicycling mag fits the bill. I also subscribe to RBA. It is better than Bicycling for sure.

If I were going with a magazine, I think I'd go with Cycling Plus ... which is now BikeRadar, if I'm not mistaken:
https://www.bikeradar.com/road
https://marketing.futurenet.com/__dat...offer-new.html
Or Road Bike Rider: https://www.roadbikerider.com/ ... maybe there's just the newsletter with that one.

For full disclosure, I too subscribe. But I learn nothing new from the magazine other than who is providing bikes for the next small village in the U.S. or in Africa .. I might just let it run out. My issues go to the local transfer station after 2 weeks.
I used the term audience somewhat loosely. Meaning if you get your cycling news through Bicycling, then you probably won't be on here as a regular, contributing member of BF.

If I wanted to learn about different types of asphalt, I'd pick up Paving monthly. (they had a 10+ page article on it)

If by "the one" you mean "the worst, most irritating, least informative, sycophantic advertising biased rag" then yes (you can tell I like it)
The magazine I like is Cycling Plus from the UK.

Hell yes!
It's the one that sucks.
I subscribe to the Brit mag Cycling+. It's not so one sided and they have reviews by people who actually ride bikes. Some of the bikes we will never see over here. The reviews are subjective and comparative. They have training and nutrition tips. They don't do a whole lot of Pro coverage. They have a lot of information about touring and cycling in the UK.
To be fair I subscribe for the parts comparison and the training tips.
It's about 80-90 bucks a year.

We are spoilt for good mags over here in the UK. Always on the lok aout for the mag to buy- I bought Bycycling. The worst read I have ever had.
Currently get cycling+. Always interesting.

Cycling Plus and Cycling Weekly (same company I think) are good for general road cycling stuff. Procycling if you're into euro racing news plus some excellent retro articles (ie this month there's one on Cyrille Guimard) - all great reads.

I read Procycling and Cycle Sport, both of which are pretty good in terms of sport coverage.
Cycling Plus is a bit on the Fred-side of commuting. (Really - reviews of fluoro jackets? Why?)
But all of their reviews are a joke, as ad-space is hard to sell.

Certainly better than ours.
I guess you guys really are spoiled then cause the mags I've seen over here flat out suck.
I might have to look into a couple mentioned above.
