Kind of off topic, but we are working on a barn find 1976 Honda Elsinore Cr 250.
Google it if you are interested.
I raced these for a shop in central Minnesota in the mid 70s.
It's in one big piece, but all consumables need to be replaced.
This one will keep us out of trouble for awhile.
So, C&V bikes are still interesting, but this thing is a beast.
Vrooooom.

How interesting haha, I did a nut and bolt resto on a 78 and raced 2 seasons until my shoulders couldn't cope. After 30 years racing and age it happens
Andy Haydon is on the inside of me, he finished 3rd in the last original Paris Dakar rally. I was second in the Evo championship this year in the photo age 46 by 5 points going into the last round but missed it because of my shoulders.

I may have to pm you with a question or two as we go through the process.

Though up to my butt in projects around the cottage, I have been fitting in puttering with this old Bianci that I found at the dump three or four days ago. Not really serious about the bike but I do want to, at least, see what it is all about. And, in seeing what it is all about, so far, I have learned that it is NOT a Team Proctor but a mid level Asian Bianchi...

I thought you gave that up, Randy!
I had a ~1996 Volpe which I guess I would consider a midlevel Asian. Ultimately, it wasn't for me, but I was seriously impressed by the quality and balance of the bike. It had the best paint job on any bike I have ever had. It was almost un-chip-able, and I'm very abusive to bike paint. The handling was super predictable. My problem was that it was heavy and slow, not a problem for most people. Your Bianchi looks very nice.

Just overhauled two High-Flange Campagnolo Record hubs and two Campagnolo quill-type pedals for a friend of mine. Now it's onto a few pairs of Nakashima quill-type pedals for him.
Cheers

These were brutal in a whole new way that was embraced wholesale , the handwriting appeared on fire on the wall virtually overnite.
I thought I was into it and had ridden some but not much at the time and even I knew these would change the game just looking at them new when they came out, they exuded power just sitting there.

Wow, Elsinore. That was a total game changer.

Been wrenching on a ‘76 Eisentraut Limited for about three weeks now. Built up from a frame, and fork. First effort at a bike build, and quite the learning experience.
Finally got it all put together this evening, and took it out for a test run fully expecting mechanical issues. But there weren’t any, and next thing you know I was riding all around Timbuktu just havin’ a natural ball!

Well done.

Thank you! I had doubts from time to time, but kept deciding to push on through. Wow! What a feeling of accomplishment. And the frame too, feels excellent in motion. Springy! Alive!
Barcons took a bit of getting used to. Never used them before. And the longer wheelbase is a new experience. Got enough of a feel for it to balance out for hands free riding by the time I was heading home.
Still got to outfit a few accessories, and wrap the bars. I’ll show ‘n tell then, because... “Pics or it didn’t happen!”

No worries and good on ya for servicing them which they need far less than most and are one of if not the best bulletproof values in all of cycling.
I have them on all my regular riders and use them without hesitation on any vintage build that is going to be ridden very much, they look the part and work as well as any for me.

So i got the lugs painted today on the Sakae. I used a new tape called Frog tape, well cant say im to happy with it. Its left loads of sticky residue and cant say I've had this issue before with other tape. So there's more work for me before the clear goes on and this frame needed lots of masking.

In the process of upgrading the brakes on my Puch:
New pads for the front are on order. The Modolos couldn't slow the rollo, and just had a terrible feel to them. BL-R400s are on the way.

I replaced most of the components and tried to keep it period correct or at least as close to period correct as possible, I have new decals for it but not sure yet how to take off the old ones since they’re really baked on..
Almost finished!

Good looking bike. Have you tried taking the old decals off with a hair dryer?
