I was totally just joking with that photo up there. It does make me laugh tho.
Fat bikes never really caught on in the desert, I think they'd be a ton of fun in the snow or if you rode sandy beaches or something.

I don't know why, in my experience the ability to ride on super soft sand was way more exciting than the snow.
There were lots of moments in AZ i wished i had the fat wheels on lol

The 29+ and 27.5+ seem to be growing in popularity out here.
Personally, I think a fat bike would be fun for a beater around town, rolling over curbs and pot holes like nobody's business!

Vee trax just came out with a slick fat tire too
27+ honestly seems like the best tire size + rim combo ive had the pleasure of riding, which is why I haven't been in a hurry to get the other 2 bikes i have in the pipeline, or put my fat wheel set back on

I used some corrosion inhibitor in my SS today. Took off any bolts, seat tube, and front fork, and got some good spray in some drain holes. The fork steerer tube star nut was very poorly put in, so I removed it, re-bent and straightened it out. I don't have the tool, so I watched a few videos. The best way I found was to insert the cap and bolt almost all the way in, gently tap it down, unscrew the bolt a bit, tap it again, until it was down the tube about 1 centimetre. I was still getting a bit of leakage when I put it away, so I say success.

Rode the beach on the fattie as well. Ehh, by the time you figure out the tire pressure and what not it sucks the fun right out of it. Have to carry a pump with you if you plan on riding anything else other than the beach.

A while back some of us were "discussing" how best to cut a seatpost.
Not the same issue but today I got this picture from a guy to whom I sold a seatpost. The post was 27.2 and his vintage bike was something like 26.8. He was like, "Yeah, no problem. I have a lathe."
His wife had a stroke and rides a trike. He was building a "slower" vintage bike so he could ride with her. I thought that was cool and thought @SquidPuppet and some others might find it semi-interesting. Chucked the old Trek seatpost in a lathe and turned it down a few mils.

Not sure how I feel about that. Might be iffy.

Yesterday I discovered that one of the best documentaries of all time will have a glorious sequel.
Drum roll please...
Planet Earth II. Six parts, six hours.
Another drum roll please...
David Attenborough returns for narration duties.
Airing soon in the UK. Hoping for a Stateside Blu-ray for the holidays. Fingers crossed.
It looks like they've topped themselves. The footage has a more artistic cinematic look to it.

Today I took my car to the car wash. It goes through. I drive it a bit to air dry it since it is in the 50's. Get home. Half the car is still dirty. Won't be going back there again.
