We got a little something here before my awakening but it doesn’t seem like anything helpful.

As a retired highway engineer, I can say without hesitation that that is a surface failure.

Velo Vol note road condition. This is a bit of an extreme example of our road decay, but it is not very hard to find this kind of stuff around here - I can think of at least three spots on my regular routes that are this bad or worse:

On the topic of MUPs, there’s a decent one here that runs from Albany out west that’s about 40-45 miles long. It’s dense in a few spots but others are pretty empty. When I head south to do longer rides and more climbing I generally hop on it for 10ish miles on the way down.
There’s another MUP by my house that’s a complete **** show.

It took until this morning, almost a week later, for the post-century bloat/ pump/ inflammation/ whatever to melt off and get back under 175.
Also, trying to get back to running is hard.

That kind of road condition isn't hard to find around here, either. I wouldn't avoid that road though - there's still a smooth-enough line through.

Because the paths are pretty okay, 'specially at noodling speeds, I think that a lot of cyclists in the area never graduate from them and a lot of non-cyclists don't understand why you would want to venture off of them. A shame.

There are starting to be more choices in 30mm. Of course, that's nominal and it's hard to say if they'd actually be any bigger than your nominal 28s. Regardless, it's nice that models like the new Pro One have smaller increments in that region (28, 30, 32) for people looking to squeeze in as much as they can.

I got dropped this morning. The section I was in kept doing the yo yo. I also had mentioned before we started that today I wouldn’t increase the pace, I would hold it steady where the guy enfront of me had it. First time I take lead I stick to my word, and out of know where a guy in the back takes lead and cranks it up. SMH. The rest of the ride til I was dropped was constant many sprints instead of a steady pace.

Had a light day planned anyway, in case the TT they didn’t run last week was scheduled for tomorrow (doesn’t seem to be) plus Mr. Simplex is back. I’ll probably do a few fake miles this pm and maybe look for a group thrash in the a.m.

I love to run, it’s my preferred activity, but I’m not anywhere nearly as consistent about it as I am cycling. Mostly it’s because of the amount of pain I get in my right hip.
I did intervals Monday and held at ~7 minutes but only made it 2 miles before I gave up.

I hate packing. We’re trying to be proactive and get things packed away early, but it’s super hard not to end up disorganized and chaotic because of needing to keep stuff out. I have wall decor and family pictures mixed in with kids blankets and towels and boxes everywhere. It makes me itch.

Second day working in the city since April. Returning to some semblance of normal life. Walked today because it's supposed to storm later. Boy did I get sweaty.

We’re just making a policy of everything getting stored in Tupperware-style bind. The goal is that if we move again in a few years it’s just loading the into the truck.
Also, keeping very little other than bikes, clothes, and electronics.
