I quit giving them to my dog at the beginning of the year when I first saw this come to light. She loved them.

So I've got another appointment with a doctor who will do a surgery with a rod and everything, but not till Tuesday, so who knows when I'll actually be operated on. Messaged my PCP to see if there's a sports orthopedist in the system with a shorter wait time. I guess I should've specified a sports orthopedist to begin with, but... *sigh.* Pretty frustrating.
I have a friend who has a huge ball of calcification for a collarbone after the doctors said just let it heal. Other than it feeling funny he is totally fine and plays hockey very well. Seriously consider just leaving it if that's what they want to do.

That said, I have twice now convinced surgeons to change their minds on the "best" course due to my cycling habit. Both times it was for a riskier option, but I did my homework and had justification.

Today was "take your kids to work day" which is a program for grade nine kids to see various career options. I had to give the tour of the labs and I admit it was a lot of fun showing them around. One boy in particular just loved everything and I really enjoyed seeing all of them excited about science.

"Chemistry is Awesome!" from a teenager warms the cockles of my heart.

Yeah, in my case the broken bone went down, not up. Seems I'm lucky it didn't get any nerves or other important stuff on the way.

I suppose I need to do that homework. I took a look in the mirror today, and the difference between my shoulders is maybe not as bad as I'd feared. But the guy today was saying things like "bursitis" and "impingement," and that worries me. And even if my shoulders aren't as asymmetrical as I first thought, I've had enough experience with bike fit and injury to know that small differences can be significant. So we'll see what the other opinions are.

If you want to research it, research from the context that most studies which indicate that collarbones heal well without surgical intervention were generally on toddles and children who make up the majority of collarbone cases. Adult bones do not heal as quickly as kid's obviously, so most Orthos today will do the surgery. Especially if you indicate that you're a cyclist and the shoulder is likely to suffer further impact in the future, so a properly aligned bone is important.

My bone cut up a nerve sheath in the area, and for about a year I would randomly get these sensations where it felt like there was a coat of dried Elmer's glue flaking off of my forearm. That went away though.

Our parking lot is being paved and there has been a constant flow of employees telling the boss, "Hey, did you know someone paving our parking lot?"

As if random hooligans are going to pave our parking lot.

The last few minutes I've been encouraging people to ask him just to see him crack.
