Hey folks. Just about 3 weeks to go until the first baby (a girl) arrives, which explains my absence round these parts. I've been riding every day per usual, but am fully expecting that to dwindle into a very occasional half hour on the trainer during the first 6 months (or 6 years, tbd). Will report back once she's made the US women's olympic team for road racing.

I am aware of the incredible benefits of a low-carb diet for elevated sugar. I typically tell all my DM patients to try to limit carbs to 100g/day.
I am not quite ready to go there, but if the sugar creeps up (which is quite possible) I may have to take my own medicine, so to speak.

You're doing it right if your cycling shoes are worth more than your car.

Oh, and in bike related news... I finally got myself some higher end shoes (Giro Factor Techlace), and boy howdy do they feel amazing. I've been using various lower-end Giro shoes for years, but having a super light, stiff, and molded shoe definitely feels good, even if there's probably 0 measurable performance difference.
