Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hey Bah Humbug I am pretty sure the tri gang at ST has this figured out, but a Google search did not help me.

It’s clear that tighter hip angles make you slightly less powerful but still are faster because aero, but once you go slower (eg climbs) the extra watts from sitting up a bit help more because of the slower speed. I am looking for some good useful data to find optimal hip angle based on effective speed. Maybe this is proprietary info but any ideas?

This starts out all nice, "Awww look the deer saved the rabbit from the hawk."

But then it turns out that deer has a real problem with hawks.

It's a little-known fact that some animals are solar powered, and need to sleep in the sun to recharge.

Feline content - a phrase that works whether you say it as "Feline CONtent", or "Feline conTENT".

sheesh.
I'm guessing that a lot of stuff has sold out.

I'm primarily looking at the Elite Suito... or possibly the Direto XR.

They also have the Tacx Flux S, which would come in under $500 shipped, with stacked discounts, but I think that I'd like to be able to move the trainer about a little more easily.

I thought about picking up one of the Wahoo Kickr's that popped up on Craigslist for >$300 off of list price, but that's still $800 and it's cheaper to buy another bike.....

I hate being on call. It's just beautiful outside today, I mean glorious. It could also be due to the end of the season being nigh. I could go for a nice long ride today if I wasn't on call. But we've had some odd things happening in the city. I don't know if anyone has caught our reverse sink hole on the news. That kept me out until 3am Monday to Tuesday .

Apparently a super large pile of an unknown substance (iron ore maybe? something heavy) 3 or 4 stories tall, In a scrap yard. Shifted. The theory is; a water main was leaking causing the earth to become saturated to the point of liquidity. Causing all the ground around it to heave upwards as the giant pile shifted and sank. The rear parking area of the 2 story building next door rose up, I would estimate 20 feet. The building , a weed store, had its rear lifted up so that the entire building is pitched forward like something from a earthquake. The storefront is pitched forward 8 to 10 feet at the top.
. It's just bizarre. I wish I could post pics. Anyway all the moving ground broke a 16 inch main. Which we had to isolate so that a temporary bypass could be installed until repairs could be made.
Never seen anything like it.

Havnt heard much about the elite suite, or the direct xr, what’s special about those?

Pffft - like I can concisely answer that.

Here's the link to the DCR grand 2021 trainer summary - https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2020/11/...e-winter.html/

There should be links to both of the full reviews.

Oh, and FWIW, I just pulled the trigger - $605 shipped. I figure that, if I were to have gotten a Kickr CORE, even with my 20% discount, I'd be spending almost $200 more.

Only 38 miles today, but they were challenging. Warm and extremely humid. Got to camp shortly before the current thunderstorms started. Hanging out under a big tent attached to the building with bathrooms and showers. Might as well get clean.

Heard two talkative owls and a loud coyote last night. Heard two loons while riding this morning.

The short, bumpy section of the D&H Trail I rode today. Sucks.
