Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I did some carpentry work today, but it was just boarding up windows due to credible threat of vandalism(on ******).

looters broke the windows of another location last night in Scottsdale, but only got $300 of merchandise.

Yeah, one of the protest groups tweeted out Dicks Scottsdale as a rally point. Not surprised there was damage.

Actually he first tweeted out Big 5 at Scottsdale Fashion as the meetup, then everyone's like huh, there's no Big 5 there.

We got a 8pm statewide curfew announced about 3 hours before it starts! Those people on the Open AZ boards are Maaaaad as hell!

Out here in the 'burbs no one would ever know any protests were going down.

strange that Fashion mall was closed early, but it took police almost an hour to show up at the scene, after the looting began.

Seriously, WTF?

Plus a TV for additional video.

But man, moving the standard premium to $15 for training apps is brutal (thanks Zwift). I don't think that's going to compete with Rouvy any time soon for me.

I'd really like to try the Tacx software, but limiting it to their own hardware sucks.
The spare laptop I run Zwift from is W7, so no luck for me neither on RGT, nor Rouvy(how is it anyway?).

I’m worried about speed sync issues with ride-on-a-recorded-video type apps, but may give Rouvy a shot after I tried RGT For a week or two.

I only knew about it hours before it happened. Why do I have better information than the police?

Tucson's mayor was pissed too. She said neither she nor her chief of police had heard anything til the tweet, and the tweet didn't even have a curfew end time on it. Everyone's like 8 til when?

Oh, and I meant 6 hours notice. Fat fingers on the 10-key!

I was talking about how I knew when and where the looting was to take place, but Scottsdale PD takes almost an hour to show up, after the looting started.

That is sickening.

Went for a little ride today and decided to take a detour to roll down the main drag where the protests have been taking place. Most buildings are boarded up, many with words of support for the protesters and/or proclamations of being owned by families and/or by people of color; it's hard to say how much damage they took before getting boarded up. Also saw about a dozen buildings reduced to piles, some of them still smoldering, a police precinct building being the most notable. Also saw hundreds (thousands?) of volunteers, with brooms or shovels in hand, cleaning up what they could, while others set up aid stations with food and water for those in need (many of the grocery stores in the area are boarded up, so some residents don't have access to the basics).

Last night was relatively quiet, 10k National Guard troops, thundering down the road in Humvees and firing off rubber bullets will do that, I suppose, and they're shutting down freeways and bridges even earlier tonight. Ah, to go back to being bored with quarantine.

8-5 every night for a week. My friend in Dewey is soooo pissed. But then started figuring it probably won't really affect him in any way.

If it weren't for you mentioning it yesterday I'd have no idea this was going on. It's a nice life ensconced in the 'burbs, indeed.

Somewhere in a John Hughes movie some teenagers are rolling their eyes.
