So am I doing this townie thing right?
Old drive line, thumbies, good racks, upright handlebars looks like 4 checks...
The saddle is a placeholder until the new Berthoud gets here, I'm going to keep an eye on eBay to see if I can pick up a cheapish dynamo and if I can't I'll run battery lights.

You forgot the fifth check, a kickstand. Check.

Originally came with a Quadra 21 fork (80mm travel) and it was stuck/broken so I got a Kona P2 suspension corrected cromo fork and had it all sandblasted. Grey powder coated it, sanded it with 220 grit to break the gloss and had my wife hand paint the Day of the Dead graphics. Then I applied 2 coats of 2 part automotive clear satin to protect it.

Neither of us are Mexican or Spanish or particularly religious but we like to spend a lot of time in the southern Americas. The culture of our ancestors still being present with us is very reassuring.

That is one of the best builds I've seen on this thread. A lot of thought, creativity, and attention to detail went into that bicycle, and it shows.
Kudos!

I should have known, they're slick with their "hand-hammered" look. I have several old bikes and I'm really wanting to put together a grocery-getter. Been lurking around and aggregating ideas, your bike is very similar to how I envision my own. Fenders are a must.
If you would have told me 10 years ago, heck, even 5 years ago I would be marveling at fenders, I would have said you're nuts. Now I'm practically obsessed with them. I guess it comes with being over 50!

With that color scheme, I'm surprised you didn't go with black. Of course, those could be mistaken for plastic, I suppose. Yours are unmistakably aluminum. Nice bike!

Oh, I just checked, and VO doesn't sell the black versions anymore in 26".
I've got a pair of Handsome (local mfgr) Cycles Mud-Butler fenders in Copper Finish, hanging in my shop. They are quite stunning to look at out in the sun. They only come in 700c size, but I'm hoping I can use them on a dark green Raleigh Portage I picked up last year. If not, then they'll have to go on a black or dark green, maybe burgundy 700c frame. Sorry for the departure from subject matter here. Please carry on...
