Kudos.
BTW one of my friends did a massive gravel ride out your way, I think something crazy like 130 miles, this past weekend. I wonder if it was the same event you saw?

Schwalbe G-One All-around (I have them in both 35 and 38) are awesome around here. Super speedy on pavement and hard-packed gravel/dirt. Errbody has different gravel, though, so YMMV. If you have really hard and/or sharp gravel, I might shy away from them, as they're pretty supple and I'd be concerned about their durability (not that I've even had a single flat on one, so that concern might be unfounded). For the typical crushed limestone around here, though, they're great.

I found a nice girl named Mary on today’s 66 miler. If my wife’s back doesn’t come around, this gal may be my new stoker.

There was a gravel race in town this weekend. Being totally out of shape and owning no such thing as a gravel bike, I did not participate. However, my wife thought it looked really cool and said she would be interested in trying that, since she does not like the idea of riding on the road. Being the enabler that I am, I told her I fully supported that desire and that she should most definitely get a gravel bike. Two days later, I have ordered a Cannondale Topsoil for her. My guess is that she will use it twice, lose interest, and then I will inherit a gravel bike. ![happy b-day](https://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/bday.gif)
