NYCAP... or Boulder/Longmont or Raleigh. If it's NYCAP it's looking more likely for Ballston Spa or Malta - AG's likeliest on-site career there would be GloFo, which she took work trips to back in her AMD days before they were spun off. Those two are on the Zim Smith trail that connects to the Empire State Trail, while SS isn't. We won't have the slightest idea until EOY when she fins out what nVidia's plans for her team are, though.
As for cash, I'm surprised, since it looks like houses are hanging around for a luxurious-seeming couple of months. Fortunately, we're lucky enough that if that becomes an issue we can get a loan from the First National Bank of the Parents and "refi" after closing.
Crushing hard on this one, though of course it'll be gone by then.

Or either of these:

Especially that first, which is literally on the trail. From both I might not be able to see a neighbor.

Neither do I. Prices were already ridiculous then in the last year or so they exploded into the absurd.
The last house I lived in with my parents is in a neighborhood near here. Houses there are listed @ $850k. How is that possible? How can working class people qualify for an $850k house?
My parents sold that house for $26k in 1972.

Working class people can't qualify for it.

And all I care about is the kitchen. The porch might be nice, but I'm used to them being just for show down here. It's either oppressively hot or arctic, and anyway it's loud outside. Might be different there; AG"s parents in Scotia have a lovely backyard porch.
And while languages are on the brain, "yard" and "garden" have the same root, shared with "earth".

And the back porch is perfect for summer evenings, watching the light fade and the lightning bugs rise up out of the grass.

I have noticed that some places are putting out nice, crisp pilseners, which are the perfect summer beer. And I can always find Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale or Anchor Steam Beer for a midweight.

I've had two customers in the past week complaining of noises while pedaling. Platform pedals. It was their pedal. New pedals = no more noise.

I'm still having problems with the clickety bike. I recently replaced the headset bearings because it sounds like it's coming from that area. No change at all. So, now I'm in ride to fail mode. I have a feeling it's the press fit cup in the BB. But I have been unable to affect any change in the noise at all. So when it x plodes we'll see

Ever since I rebuilt the Lotus Classique, I've been kinda disappointed in it. The shifting was not great - every gear required me to overshift and then back off - the drivetrain was loud, and the 13-32 6 speed cassette just had too much jump between the gears. I was considering selling it to make room for another project. But I wanted to be fair to it. So last night I took it down off the hooks and spent some time on it. Tightened up the rear wheel bearings, then tightened the one spoke that was throwing the wheel out of true and rubbing the brake (literally ONE SPOKE. 1/2 turn and it's true). Then I remembered I have a 13-26 Uniglide cassette on Mrs. Peel's spare wheelset, so I swapped that on. The I remembered I'd used the old chain, and that I had since gotten a new SRAM 870 chain. So, I ditched the old one, cut the new one for the 26t cassette, and put it on. The shifting was GREAT! Almost silent, instantaneous, and no 'overshift and back off' required. The drivetrain itself, which had been LOUD was now nearly silent.
On the road today, the bike was a delight. It will NEVER challenge the Battaglin, the Bianchi, or the Canyon for speed. It's easily my slowest bike, slower even than Mrs. Peel, but still a joy to ride! Don't think I'll be selling anytime soon.

The Honda and Mazda products are bullet proof. We've owned multiples of each brand. Out of the 4 or 5 Hondas and 3 Mazdas, I've never had to do anything other than routine maintenance. Mazda packs a lot of features into there cars these days.

Warmed up a bit more today, supposed to be back to 100+ next weekend after a week of wonderful cooler weather. Yesterday I drove to the ride start and I forgot my gloves. Gloveless is fine until the first climb then the hands get wet and the bars are slippery. Then it drizzled on us for a while. I was quite comfortable and only drank 2 bottles in 60 miles.
