Hey, I know that bikes are just scrawny, underfed, wannabe motorcycles without engines; that's what I know.

Bubble Visor
Just found this blog site today and was totally blown away by the retro hardware on its pages:
https://bubblevisor.blogspot.nl/
Then I saw this:
Read this:
"The parking lot at The Emporium of Postmodern Activities is, for the most part, a civilized place; an evolved tarmac where mannerly citizens maneuver their EPA compliant vehicles in an orderly, adult fashion. It’s a peaceful strip of asphalt. Sometimes, though, **** gets out of hand. Well, sort of. Not really. What we’re talking about here is Ring A Ding Ding, the two stroke love-in we threw last weekend that transformed our otherwise genteel back lot into an oil and gas breathing attack on the senses. Over fifty motorcycles were on display, each displaying their unique bits of personality when their owners started them up. The resulting choir of smoke and sound that filled the air was all too fitting for the Fourth of July weekend. Firing up a two-stroke motorcycle is like lighting fireworks. The crackle of the engine sounds like fireworks, the smoke pouring out of the exhaust looks like fireworks. The whole thing just feels like you’re breaking a bunch of rules, like it can blow up in your face at any moment. It’s that uneasiness you feel when you’re not quite sure if your neighbors are going to call the cops. It’s awesome"
. . . And heard this:

This event is officially on my bucket list. Should I take the '71 125 or the '69 250? Hmmmmm . . .BRRRRAAAAAAAPP!

^^ Haha! Shop I worked/raced for as a kid was an Ossa dealer. Had at least one Yankee on the floor. Gawd, I couldn't imagine . . . 250 Stiletto almost tore me a new one once.
I agree on the twins - - RDs, RZs. . . but especially TZs. I got to see a road race at SIR when Ron Grant and Art Bauman were Suzuki's 500 GP team,Kenny Roberts was on TZ Yamaha's and Gary Nixon was on the original Triumph triple. Gawd the chorus of sounds was phenomenal.
Side note: the Yankee isn't a 'true' twin, in the sense of the firing being offset - - crank pins were aligned so that it fired as a 'twingle,' IIRC.

Watched Between the Tape the other night . . . finally. Thought it had only been a couple or three years since it came out. Haha - - it was the 2006 WC season. Holy crap, Minaar was still on the Honda RN01. Great, great footage though. Got to see more of the Fort Will course than I ever had; blew me away.

So the other night, I watched North Shore Extreme: Dirty Dreams. Netflix has a few MTB films - - including some from the NWD series - - but the North Shore Extremes had never been on my radar.
It was a kick to watch some old skool NS footage. Funny, the release date is 2006 but this stuff all looks '99-2000-ish. I mean, here I am looking at basically XC bikes these guys are riding doing typical North Shore nuttiness. Ya there were lotsa Monster Ts and Jr Ts and an Xvert fork here and there; there were Brodies, Cannondale V-whatevers, a Psychle Werks and a long-ago bike'o-my-dreams: monocoque Norco VPS. Riders included Dangerous Dan and Wade Simmons and a host of others, some near-forgotten.
Highlight for me had to be the extended segment on Kris Holm - - gawd there he was doing the Discombobulator on a uni. I can barely imagine that on two wheels. Anyway, if you get a chance, rent it, check it out, however you get your hands on one. It's not the smooth, polished stuff we're used to tioday but it is certainly entertaining nonetheless.

I rebuilt my drive train. New Surly front ring, new chain and rear cassette. On a better note, the girlscout is riding again. He picked up a Stumpjumper EVO at a good price and has gotten several good rides in the last week or so. We are heading to Pisgah in a few for a ride.Rock on.

I saw the pic of his new machine on FB. Nice indeed.
Oh, and I put new bars on the SB too - - well, new to it. Ditched the stock Truvativ for the wide Sunlines off the DH bike.

It is an Absolute Black spiderless chainring mated to sram x7 https://absoluteblack.cc/ that is the website.
I understand it as the teeth are a bit longer thank normal and when matched to a new cluthched derailleur there is no need for a chain guide similar to the new xx1 stuff so that is my intended route with the bike eventually.
