I hope you can make it. Over the years I've suffered with back issues. A sore back just limits everything you want to do.

I did a 47 miles on the mighty Trek today. Breezy as hell this afternoon. Legs are starting to come around.

With great regret I must cancel this Saturday’s ride. My physician reviewed my MRI this morning and informed me only a fool would aggravate my severely herniated L4/L5 disk. Surgery will happen tout de suite.

If anyone reallllly wants to ride, I can meet you at the start with a cue sheet and meet you at the end for tacos.

iab best wishes for the surgery and recovery. Thanks for organizing the ride... with any luck, it can be run later in the year(?).

and for anyone interested, I plan to run another vintage/steel bike ride in the Peoria, IL area this fall. Late September? Any excuse to get a few vintage bike nerds together is a good excuse.

Thanks for the well wishes. This is not my first rodeo, I had a S1/L5 discectomy 15 years ago. I'm blessed with bad disks, but it was after that I started riding again.

well, it's about noon now, and the radar says that the storm is getting up to your area.

Down south here in central Illinois, I was able to find a small hole in the weather to get out for a ride. A few sprinkles, 50F, and winds at 20 to 30 mph. Lovely!

Here's a photo of the whitecaps on the Illinois river during my ride....
(yeah, it's a really awful phone camera)

Back trouble, no fun at all.
May the procedure go well and recovery be swift.

Why April 29? Is a replay, say, in June possible?
Now this I like! a June classic, a fitting warm-up for One Helluva Ride around July 4!

Dave, hurry up with that back surgery!!!

I wish you successful surgery and rehab, and only a short time away from riding.
