Last year the winning break went on the descent in the 3's. More specifically it went just after the right turn past the finish line. Racing in the rain is a funny thing, nobody wants to chase on a cold downhill.

I remember doing it couple years ago. The race started just as the sun was coming out, I couldn't feel my fingers or toes for most of the race. Collegiate get screwed big time.

Half the race may be uphill but it's the second half. It starts with an uber-sketchy descent, especially when cold/wet.

4 laps of Boulevard, 20K of Fiesta Island, 75 minutes of Red Trolley. After this weekend I'll either be flying or completely crushed.

That was as terrible as I thought it would be. I've got a history of under performing in cold, rainy conditions. Today definitely qualified as cold and rainy. It was warmer than last year (~45 degrees) but it POURED for the first 2 hours, let up a bit, then poured again. Throw in occasional high winds and hail and you've got a pretty miserable race. I felt great for the first 2 laps, but when we hit La Posta for the 3rd time my legs were completely frozen and I cracked hard. If I had kept riding for the 4th lap I would have finished ~15th- well in the money, but I was already a popsicle by the time I got back to the car and I had zero interest in freezing my ass off by myself for another hour. One of the Garmin kids won and Floyd finished second.

maybe this.
"Floyd Landis had a contract with the Rock Racing team under the condition that it was Professional Continental in 2010. The UCI's decision to deny the team the upgraded license that it requested meant that Landis' position on the team was unknown."
