i didn’t see this part. i thought they were just extending the ability to cross on the “walk” sign to bikes? around here, there are four way ped crossing intersections (all the walk signs light up, lights still red) and the walk signs come on quite a few seconds before the light turns green. currently, it’s technically illegal to cross on a bike then.

Sounds like a freak case, otherwise we would have a ton of unemployed Americans considering how few of them exercise. Also, I'm pretty sure the company was legally obligated to at least attempt to accommodate her new disability. A sit/stand desk may have solved her problem. She may have a claim if it hasn't been too long.
Road cyclists get osteoporosis, we're worse off than couch potatoes. Best theory is we lose a lot of bone mineral in our sweat, and we spend our time doing an activity sitting down with the bike bearing our weight for us. Andy Coggan fell down and broke his hip like an 80 year old woman. I don't say that as an insult, it's about risk categories. Resistance training improves bone density and strength. So do impact sports, that's why MTBers are better off than we are. Anybody who is a human should do resistance training for their own health. Road cycling is really good for us in stone great ways but it's not enough.

$35 fine for unsafe passing and $220 for a collision causing bodily harm? WHAT EVVVVVVERRRRR! And the moving to the adjacent lane thing is only if the adjacent lane is in the same direction which should make PCH safer but we are still subjected to the 3 inch rule on other roads.
