All-City Space Horse. Pretty simple... 3x9, Tiagra/Soma/FSA. Team Vision 25 wheels (suprised they held up). Got to try out these new Kenda Flintridge 700x40 on a 13 mile stretch of the Arizona Trail this weekend. Chunks of razor sharp rock, loose gravel, sand, thorns... underneath my 250lbs of rider weight. They held up like champions!

Here is my home made cyclocross/gravel bike. Build from a Trek 700 hybrid bike.
I have a set of videos on my Youtube channel showing the whole build.

I recently bought this Crux Pro and am turning it into my one-and-only bike. It came to me with a Rival 2x10 group set. The first pic shows it after I switched the crankset to a 1x Red (42t) and put my saddle on it. The second pic is after I picked it up yesterday after a full re-build. SRAM Red shifters, XO rear D, 3T Ergonova Team bar, Thomson stem and seatpost, Stans Alpha 400 wheels, WTB Nano Race 40c set up tubeless, TRP carbon brakes. Tommy at Tuite Bicycle Repair https://www.facebook.com/tuitebicyclerepair/ built it up for me. He builds bikes for Breadwinner Cycles. Awesome job! When it is in it's "road" version, it will sport Zipp Firecrest 303s. I still have yet to take it on it's new maiden voyage.

Occam's Rotor
I got this at the end of May 2014, having gotten in the queue in late July 2013, when I was still having trouble walking (after breaking my ankle ).
Steel frame, Chris King wheels, etc., Shimano hydraulic discs (which I really do need around here), Di2 (which I don't need, but comes with the brakes currently, and the shifting is flawless). This is the most stable bike I have ever ridden, and the best ride I have ever experienced with my clothes on.
I wanted to buy locally (Santa Cruz CA), and I really lucked out with John Caletti. Everything exceeded my expectations. My only regret is I waited until I was 50 years old and broke my ankle before I got this for myself as a recovery incentive/present.
Pictures filched from the Caletti Cycles website.
I've been riding it off-road a bit (firetrails and mountain bike trails) in addition to back-country roads in the Santa Cruz mountains. It handles incredibly well and has enabled me to regain my cycling confidence. On the other hand, it kind of ruined mountain biking for me. (I finally just officially gave mine to my 13 year old, who rides it more.)
As for the frame builder, John Caletti, he's an extremely nice guy, and the diametric opposite of a pushy salesman. If anything, I had to talk him into a more expensive component set. Frankly, I'm not worthy of this bike -- too old, too slow, too fat, too lame from the ankle break, and a cheapskate who typically buys Nashbar instead of name brand -- when I showed up at his shop the first time in 2013 a few months after my ankle break, I was still having trouble getting up and down from his doorstep. He had every reason to tell me to go away (which a few LBS essentially did), but he took me very seriously as a customer and built a bike with a better understanding of what I needed than I had, and it certainly wasn't for a lack of customers. There was about an 8 or 9 month wait, but for me it was worth it, and it gave me a goal to work toward in terms of recovery and hopefully got me into a bit better shape overall. I would definitely recommend him and the bikes he makes to anyone.

Thanks. I added some more photos and description.
As an added bonus, I used the measurements from the custom bike to retrofit and modernize my 1987 Bianchi (cf: https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...omponents.html )

I like the story and the bike. Gravel bikes are the best swiss army knife bikes out there; they do a lot of things very well and allow you to explore new terrain. I get a lot of use out of my "vintage" gravel bike which is a 1993 bridgestone XO-2. It's a drop bar road bike built around 26 inch wheels. Back in the early 90s, there were no 29ers and a 26 inch wheel was your best bet for a bike designed for riding gravel and dirt roads. I use it as a gravel bike in Iowa running 26 x 42c tires. It handles those road beautifully.

Occam's Rotor
Sounds like a great bike. I have Clement 40mm X'PLORs on mine at the moment, which pretty much lets me ride on everything except huge ruts and sand pits. Now that I have two wheelsets, I find myself wondering if I would have been better off with 26" wheels. (If I buy a Long Haul Trucker in my size, it is only available for 26" wheels.) The mountain bike my kid took over is a 26" (the only kind I remember when I got it 10 years ago.) Maybe what I really want is a 26"-Plus mountain bike with drops.
