Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

20 miles / 2,000', on road and dirt. Up and down a local fireroad/single track and to and from on the road. Mount Tamalpais in the background and that's San Francisco to the left of the mountain.

a little bikecation the last 2 days up to los angeles to hit the south bay/palos verdes area and santa monica mountains along with the beach bike path between santa monica and redondo beach.
just what i needed to clear the cobwebs. surprised i still have feeling in my hands after descending both tuna canyon and las flores. good lord. thought i had stretched out all my tendons below the elbows permanently between the two descents. significant pucker factor on a cornering episode or two.

I rode 36.1 miles using the Guadalupe river trail and san tomas trail, the weather was 50F foggy with light winds. It took a while for my legs to warm up and get use to the bike since i havent biked in 6 days. There were rc planes be flown at the sunnyvale park. I now have 800+ miles for the month.

Almost 50 miles from my house in Vegas, into the red rock Park loop road (challenging climbing for the first 5 miles and then one of the funnest long high speed sections ever on the back 5) then back out and down to the south another 10 miles, turn around and home. I try to do this same ride once a week.

Today I did 24 miles. For some reason, there wasn't a car on the road. (yes I know why there was no traffic).

subdivision cruising. apparently i can bust out 10 miles or so and climb 900+ feet. plan to extend this in a few days, hoping to crack 1500 feet in an hour or so. nice too as the roads are smooth and open with low speed limits.

Today i rode 42.2 miles using the Guadalupe river trail and san tomas trail and i had a doctors appointment then went to subway for lunch (black forest ham with swiss cheese). The weather was 54F sunny with very high winds heading south. It was a good day, also the weather for the next couple of days says it is going to rain, that is going to be tough to ride in but doable.

5 laps around Zwift Island, because it snowed yesterday and the roads were too icy today.

just local, cruised through balboa park and downtown for 12 relatively easy miles. left knee started hurting a bit. may be due to a little 47 mile grindfest yesterday.
i seriously need to get a compact setup. the knee may be looking to get divorced unless i make certain concessions.
