The CBBC put on their Covered Bridges Ride, starting in Erwinna, PA. This was the site for a small BF.net get together.

The ride was great for the most part (think wind!). Got to the hotel in New Hope, PA, where Kirke and I stayed the night before the ride. Went out on the town, had an amazing dinner and a great time. We did get to the start a little late, so probably missed anyone else looking for us. Sorry! KirkeIsWaiting, Bibi (I can't believe SpongeDad left ahead of us!), HigherGround, rudenoiz, and myself all met up at the start. We all rode together for a bit until rudenoiz took off with some friends on his sweet machine. Then it was just four, but it was a great group: The Sweepers hahaha!

Yes, condemned to cute, and not glamorous like Kirke, Beth & Jess! Meanwhile, I'm thinking, "if anyone ever takes another picture of my lardass sticking up in the air like that ..." well, let's just say the moderators would remove the rest of that sentence.

We missed you & jess, but hope you plan on doing another round of covered bridges next year...

Awwwwww, I thought about you guys all day today!!! It was so windy...I was outside all afternoon at an event I had to be part of, and kept imagining you guys fighting the wind on those roads.

Wish I'd been there...it would've been great to see you all!

I feel very proprietary above the CBBC Covered Bridges Ride, so if you folks have any comments--positive or negative--that I can pass along to the club leadership, I'd welcome them. Knowing what we do right and what we can do better will only help us to to offer people an even greater experience on the CBR. More apples & brownies! Seriously, the food was good, the volunteers pleasant and cheery, and the ride a really fun one.

The falling leaves made it a little difficult to spot a few of the pavement tattoos indicating turns. But it was fun watching Mirona play soccer from the bike with the rotting tennis balls Pennsylvanians seem to be leaving roadside everywhere. Didn't know tennis was such a big sport in PA ...

Roy, Do you have any idea why they had the rides finishing up coming back into the park from the front entrance rather than the rear way, as in years past?

Beth...we sure missed your company but I got a shot of the only shaven leg I found all day, Mirona's!
I'd have to say that Mirona did a better job at photoging, I think I was too terrified at some of the descents to bother taking pics.

And Dante.... who finds us at the end of the day in an attempt to garner the OCP award.
You can have it pal, you deserve it and a pic to prove it. That award means nothing compared to the friendships you develop when you suffer though climb after climb in head winds together. Thanks Leslie, Rich and Mike for getting me to the finish!

No, it was a good crowd, and the ride had several routes for all sorts of riding types. Look at the beginning pix, you'll see folks crowded around the bagel tent

There was an accident at one point. I missed it, but I was told a young guy crashed on a downhill and an ambulance came to collect him. He was strapped down and with a neck brace.
I asked if the rider was alright and was told, "he was talking on a mobile phone while being put in the ambulance."
Did anyone hear an update? Will he be alright?

As far as I know, we've gone back and forth over the past several years, probably because of traffic control and neighbor relations issues: when you have 2800 riders (again, this year, we've been told) on small country roads, you need to pay attention to community concerns. Two years ago, as I recall, the 33 hilly ride was routed back on the trail for the last 2 miles or so. However, I think many riders stay on the road and come back to the park via River Road and the front entrance.

2,800 +/_ again this year, just about the saturation point for what we can handle in terms of the nukmb er of volunteers needed and what the roads (and local communities) can and will accommodate.
