Cav comes across in that article as a whiny little child. With some shades of maybe finally growing up some. He needs to grow up and get over himself.

Cut the kid some slack. He is young, he is still learning about life. If I was thrust into the spotlight after high school I would have never had my college years to "grow up." If I were Cav, I know I would have made 10x the media mess he has made. Unfortunately for him, he has had to grow up in the spotlight.
Cav is human, humans make mistakes, some more than others. What really matters is that Cav is a roadie, and a damn good one at that. I respect him because of the roadie in him. Why do people expect sport stars to be perfect role models? As long as he doesn't do something which I consider to be a hurtful crime, I won't think less of him.
Feel free to disagree w/me, put please don't attack me. I don't really enjoy heated arguments over the internet.

He doesn't sound whiny or like a ***** to me. He's only 24 and has a long winning career ahead of him. He'll figure it out. At 24 I was 2 years out of the Corps and F&#@ing around doing nothing and hating everyone.
I can't say that being number two after what he has been through is a bad thing.

Cavendish annoys my wife. She says, "Short stumpy troll"
He is good at what he does. Period. Much in the same manner as Floyd Mayweather is good at what he does, but he is an anus.

A ****** is a ******, and ability to pedal a bike faster, hit a few more home runs, or unleash a wicked slapshot doesnt mitigate the ****** factor - atleast to me. JMO.

Dont care about the role model bit. But for me, the amount of respect I have for others is based on, among other things, what they do when faced with a set of choices on how to carry themselves and act towards others - that is true regardless of whether they are famous or not. Some people conduct themselves with class - and this spans a range, from Big Mig as a pro cyclist to an ordinary office-goer who treats the server at a restaurant with respect. Others dont.

I've met him. Good guy.
I don't need him to be like me or anyone else in order to accept him.
There are plenty of dull uninteresting riders in the peloton if that's your preference.

I beg to differ.
A very rich anus.
That is how the world works unfortunately. Don't worry about him, he ain't worrying about you.

He's next gen trying to make his mark. Thing going for him is he already left a huge mark that the previous gen can't touch. I think he's cocky but it's hard to knock his success without sounding like a whiner so I'll just agree that he has a huge winning career ahead unless his boredom forces him to change sports again.
