Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What does snow look like?

Picture from today's ride- had to unzip my jersey on the way up because it was hot.

It's like white sand ... much like what you've got in the distance there, only a bit lighter. And we usually have to unzip a bit to cool off when we ride in it too.

I wonder too. A couple of days back, we had 75F weather over here which was the coldest we had in months.

So, another of those "you-guys-are-freezing-your-a**es-while-I-did-a-century-in-the-buff-yesterday" threads, huh?

To those riders in SoCal, Florida, Texas (New Zealand and Australia at this time of the year)...this is what you're missing:
-Skiing.
-Snowshoeing.
-snowmobiling.
-ice fishing.

(who am I kidding...I would give my left nut to be at a place were I could ride right now)

Post of the year.

Here in Michigan, we ride. If not, we harass to the death.

Bravo.

They have no daylight, mid-summer riding pictures . . . they have to wait until after sundown to ride.

Looks like the stuff that melts in spring whos runoff rejuvenates streams, springs, ponds, lakes and aquifers, thereby bringing life fulfilling fresh water to all in untold abundance. Well okay not to all, just to some, the others shrivel up and die.

It's that pretty white stuff that comes from the sky in winter.

But, it's fleeting because it quickly mixes with car exhaust, tire rubber, road salt, pigeon poop, shoe grime, and common urban filth to transmogrify into piles of that nameless brown slushy stuff at the edge of the road.

It's that white stuff, way up in the mountains, which makes life possible in the middle of the stinkin desert!

It snows up there in the winter, and melts in the summer.

Without it, you would die!
