Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We likely both drove sling trucks, and this is back in the day where there were real bumpers. I would have my hooks on the top of the sling and hit the car at about 5 mph. I'd be out, bumper hook the car and go. I'd secure it properly around the block.

He was weird. He decided he wanted to get rid of that car because it was unreliable, and he was going to buy an Acura Integra (this was late 1980s), but at the last minute, he decided to buy an Alfa Romeo Milano instead.

48.

Once again I found myself walking after sunset to reach the step goal. Sometimes busy people have to do that kind of thing to accomplish big things.

What? No undercoating? No diamond plate paint protection? Don't you love your car?

My second new car, Mrs. GJ and I took their newspaper ad along with me, and said, "I want this car". They tried the "I think it's been sold", so I said, "Could you check that, please?" So they sold me the sale car for the sale price. When we went to see the "Finance Lady", she tried to convince us that the bank that was giving us the loan we'd already gotten approved for might just "call our loan" if they got in difficulties. We asked, "Really?" and she changed the subject. Then she tried to sell us on the extended warranty, but Mrs. GJ sweetly said, "No, we think Volkswagens are reliable cars, so we won't be needing that." And what could she say to that? But she looked daggers at Mrs. GJ.

I worked at a family owned dealer and they hired an office manager who turned out to be an embezzler. Among other things, he was putting the money customers paid for extended warranty in his pocket. Since they were new cars, nobody knew anything was wrong until some of those cars were out of warranty and need a repair. When service told him the problem he just said he would take care of it. It wasn't until the owner's daughter, fresh from college, did some forensic accounting and discovered he was in the till for at least $250K. A lot of money in 1993. They prosecuted his ass, too.

And I'm not getting notified of post quotes since this morning.

I have AAA but it's a condition of having their insurance. I've used it a few times but not to change a tire.
