Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Why bother? Is GCN going to take down the video and do one that makes a scientifically sound comparison?
Si specifically said he hadn't done a TT in 9 years.

That doesn't seem particularly responsive to the question of Si's lack of recent TT experience.

How do you know that Hank and Connor were operating so sub-optimally? Following distance certainly matters, but maybe not to the extent that you think it does - even a meter off of the wheel, you're still looking at savings of ~40% in the draft. Ideally, you're in the mid-40s at best, so not a huge difference. As far as pulls, they were both pros, Connor was very recently a World Tour pro, so I think that I can trust their judgement over your suspicions. Could they trim a little here and there? Sure, but they still averaged 27+ mph and at those kinds of speeds, you're fighting tooth and nail to improve a few seconds.

And how do you know that the Simon was so dialed in? It was his first ride on a TT bike in a decade, and there was absolutely no mention of rigorous trials, so I'm betting that he could improve his position and see gains in aero and/or power (he did said he "only" averaged 360w).

I would either accept it or show your work - I want to see speed calculations based on power and position (for both the TT and road bikes) and pulls taking power curves in to account (to allow realistic exertions at the front and adequate recovery in the draft).

At least you used your brains, I acknowledge that. People here blindly accepting at face value whatever they see on YouTube. SMH.

Celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day?
Or might have real world experience riding one of those monsters for an hour at threshold. Which what your original question was about.

The other two seemed to know how to ride their bikes.

Or, you know, listening to the presenters and assuming they're being honest about things like when they last rode a TT bike, and how much power they put out.

Why don't you recommend an Icelandic song, in keeping with the theme of the day?

I don't have that kind of coin for a bike. I am a common cyclist.

Again, that's not the point. You asked a question, and didn't get the answer you wanted to hear.

Reality: I go in and see yet another new nurse. This one is literally new to the group--she's not even on the website. I googled her and didn't find much, but I don't think she was in rheumatology before.

She comes in and asks these general questions because she's never seen me before. No idea what my arthritis is like. She gets my dosage wrong. Asks me if I want more MTX (even though I'm pretty sure I'm taking the maximum recommended amount). Asks if I exercise (SMH). When I tell her the drug effects don't last the full six weeks she asks me if I want to switch to something else. Am I a doctor? Why am I here?

I was planning on asking this anyway, but the appointment painfully illustrated the problem. So I ask "wut is going on here? Why have I not seen the actual doctor in a year? Why do I keep seeing new people every time? When there's no continuity of care I waste most of the appointment time rehashing all the basic stuff."

She tried to tell me that whoever saw me would be asking the same questions anyway.

"Do you exercise?" SMH

Anyway, after my complaining the doctor came into the infusion room, looked at my joints for a minute, and kind of apologized that I hadn't seen him earlier this year. He tried to blame it on COVID.

I'm still not going to see him until January.
New nurse. Didn’t bother to read your record. Decided it didn’t matter.

Is this good care? No, and it wouldn’t be tolerated where I work, but I’m not sure what the community standard is. When I was seeing patients regularly, I heard plenty of bad stories about community specialists. The system seems to be focused on throughput and making money and you’re just a widget on the belt. You could try an academic center where the level of professionalism might be higher, but the fellows turn over every couple of years and continuity can be shaky.

Negatory Ghost Rider.

I watched the video, and it made total sense to me, which is why it got a simple like at the bottom.

Check out the course and see that it really does not favor a TT bike in the first place.
