What are these?

Anyone know what these welded on brackets on the Terra Trikes are? they are on both of mine. Thanks.

I'm going to take a wild guess that it might be a cable guide in case you add a parking brake. But ... beats me. Since nobody here apparently knows, why don't you ask them? Reducing the number of welds is one of the many ways they try to keep the cost of manufacturing down, so there's got to be a purpose.

I think it could be a structural reinforcement for the chain stay. I can't tell from the picture if there is one like it on the other side? Or a piece of hardware to facilitate a trailer connection?
