RATS! Gotta Belay Rides Till Fall

Posting this in Foo just cause its really just ventilating a condition. Its not that I ride very far anymore. But I do ride at least 6 to 7 days a week. Short rides, 5 to 12 miles of Up and Down locally. Well the wife is going in for major ortho surgery and a long recovery is expected. Yep, we are in our 70s and nothing heals fast anymore, Ha. We cannot afford for me to grab an injury from one of my rides so for now the bikes get hung. I expect to bring out the generic elliptical instead. I am not one of those guys that cannot handle stationary exercise well. I have tried stationary bicycles, rollers, stationary stands and nope, not for me. Ellipticals are just about the only thing I can stand. So I will be dusting of the Walmart elliptical. At least I will be able to gaze out the garage doors and watch the occasional bicycle rider pass by.

Youse guys got any suggestions for reluctant Elliptical use in a geezer guy who prefers bicycles?

Good luck. Ellipticals give me soleus muscle problems. I'll stick to riding as long as I can.

Considering the heat we're experiencing, this is not bad timing at all for needing to refrain from riding.

Best wishes for your wife's recovery.

When you do a stationary bike do you use an app, or just ride?
I also did not like riding a stationary bike, but have been using the JRNY app on a Bowflex spin bike and find it really helpful. It is not as detailed as some of the other apps and does not have online competition, but it does have a virtual coach and adaptive difficulty. I am sure there are others.
Note: Bowflex is not shipping due to financial difficulties, but the Schwinn bikes are the same.

I hope your wife has a successful recovery.

I tried training on a stationary bike and it drives me nuts! I have to be on the road or trail.

, glad to see it not just me. I get bored quickly
I forced myself to ride 20 minutes a couple times today because I have just went back to work after foot surgery and my calf muscles on the side of the surgery is killing me and I am trying to loosen them up. It's because I was in a boot for 10 weeks and it didn't allow me to bend my ankle so those muscles are protesting
