2015 Giant Roam Project
I had a 2018 Roam in size large that I really liked, but it was just a hair too large for me (size L). I was surfing the local Craigslist and Facebook ads, as I'm want to occasionally do, and found this 2015 Roam, in size M. The folks had it for $100, and I didn't have a lot of interest in it at that price, but they later reduced it down to $50. "Take my money!" It was sitting in a shed for a long time, so it was all dusty and grungy, just the way I like a used bike. Unfortunately, all that dust and grunge hid the fact that the bike had spray paint splatter all over the frame. Example pics:
Some careful application of 91% ispropyl alcohol on a rag took most of it off. There are a few areas I need to work, still, but it's looking beautiful. Out for a quick shake-down ride on some very light single track:
I'm a sucker for a blue bike, and blue-and-white is probably my favorite livery type. The blue on this is very similar to Trek's "Inkwell Blue" they applied on many of their hybrids in the mid-90s, and what adorns my '97 750, so it's a familiar hue. But whereas my 750's paint has sort of a satin sheen to it, this one's full gloss and it really pops in the sun. I'll enjoy getting to know this bike and getting it setup the way I like it.

That's a super sharp bike! I'd try a clay bar kit and see if it will remove the spots. I removed huge amounts of John Deere Green paint overspray from the hood of my wife's car with the clay bar.

Thank you! Yes, clay was the first thing I tried, and it got some of the larger bits of splatter that it could mechanically pick up. But it wasn't that effective with the smaller grains of splatter. I was surprised at how effective the alcohol was, but I was trying to be judicious with that as well, as I think that can damage the good paint or at least the clear coat if applied too strongly or left to linger. I've just been riding it lately...with the small amount of time I've had to do that in the evenings amongst my other obligations...I'll probably take it back down over the winter and continue to work those overspray spots.
