as I mentioned before, I have a 3S Lithium battery with a super capacitor in parallel, it can easily handle 100-200 watt input for some time, so being able to store the energy is not an issue. I charge most of my power tools and an e-bike battery from that system too.

the intended purpose is specifically to use it 1-2 hours a day or every other day to stay in shape
I primarily started cycling for health reasons and I feel it greatly helped me with recovery, I don't want all the progress to be lost during winter.

and since at some point I accidentally made the battery system highly integrated in my desk controls, background lighting, several USB chargers and some other stuff it kinda makes sense to dump the energy there

and since the solar panels I am currently using are nearing their life expectancy I should consider ways to replace them anyways.

and the "legacy" motors I have are brush-less permanent magnet motors, just like your RC motors, but bigger

a 3 phase permanent magnet motor as a generator has an efficiency of 85-95%, hence why most of these DIY projects feature an RC motor.
if I didn't already have these motors left over I may have chosen to use an RC motor as well.

on an other note, can anyone explain what the deal is with these expired "tokens"?
Oh boy....
