Yes you are nuts but not for buying bikes. Buying bikes is a good thing especially if they are decent bikes. I cannot wait to buy or build another bike.

Picking this bike up today.

looking closer at specs I see it has Future Shock 3.1 which is not dampened. FS 3.2 and 3.3 are dampened.

how exactly does that work without dampening? I know it’s smooth because it don’t clatter on my daughters Roubaix but wouldn’t there be huge difference to 3.2 and 3.3 since it is not dampened?

It just relies on a bit of friction damping. Obviously going to be less controlled than the one with hydraulic damping. I think the original FS was undamped too and got very mixed reviews.

Seems like a good deal for carbon frame, entry-level electronic shifting, decent wheelset and the promise of comfy endurance riding. Also currently on sale. I plan to swap the 32 S Works Mondo for the 35 and stick with tubes. I am chickening out on the tubeless as there are several complaints on the Specialized site about the tubless setups with this specific tire leaking.

I have been riding S Works Mondo 35mm w/ Orange sealant for ~ 1 month. Besides taking almost an hour to mount one tire(the other took 20 min), they have been problem free.

took it down some steep inclines with broken pavement. No bottoming out. Not jarring. Easy to control. Comes with 2 extra spring tensions and a bunch of hardware. Not sure what I’m missing out on v hydraulic. Maybe smoother longer lasting.

Hydraulic damping would just make it more settled over multiple bumps. Given the short travel, it probably doesn’t make a huge difference if it bounces a bit more after hitting a bump.
