If you scroll down a bit it shows the replacement tools for the unit. It also has a built in bike pump.

In Ottawa we have these types of stands and even a pump along the multi-use pathway system near major bus stations.

My town has two of these that I know of. One in front of the library and the other next to the Whole Foods (owned by Amazon) market. I've never used either one. I think because if I had a problem in either of those places that it would be simpler to just walk home.

There are some along the Louisville (KY) Loop. I've never used one. Good feature for someone that might need it.

I've seen something similar in a couple of trails, it's really about the pump and tools, more so than the "stand". Go Rangers!, Sweep, sweep, sweep...

I’ve seen them on MUPs in SE Florida. I’ve never used one, and have only witnessed one being used once or twice. But, I’m sure they’re probably used more often than that. For the cost of them, I suppose it’s a nice convenience. — Dan

...that's what happened here. The tools, even though cabled to the stand, disappeared and the ongoing cost of replacement was too much for the park's budget. They seem to do better near well populated places, like on college campuses.

These things are absolutely everywhere in some regions nowadays. Tons of them in many Canadian cities. They even have them on Randalls Island in NYC, which is the last place I would have expected something like this to survive for even a few days before being vandalized.

This is where we see the worst sorts of human behaviour. I simply don't get it. Why steal tools and vandalize a public service? I may not be the most public spirited person in the world, but boggles my mind when knuckle draggers spoils someone else's day

I've seen two, both stocked with Park tools on cable leashes. One in front of the REI flagship store, and one in front of the largest regional bike club facilities.

I bike daily with a full complement of tools in my trunk bag, even a chain tool; I took it out to save weight and three days later met someone on the bike trail with a broken chain; Put chain tool back in kit. About the only things I lack in the mobile kit are chainwhip, cassette lockring tool, and wrench for it.

The rail trail I ride on occasion has them in 3 spots, I have used it once over the years.

Have several on trails around me. They work ok. Sometimes the pump valve connectors are sometimes missing.

Metal tools can be sold for scrap. I used to work in the rail industry. I know of several instances where people went to the effort of removing things like spikes, anchors and tie plates from the track structures.

But I don't get to that section of the trail very often as its a short branch that intersect the main trail for access of others that have to drive in.

Only one of the repair stands that I'm aware of. But there are several water fountains at several different locations to fill bottles for cyclists or for other to drink from, including pet fountains.

Copper yes, people steal wire all the time. Aluminum cans. But last I looked (granted it was 50 years ago), steel was dirt cheap for scrap. It's not like the third world where people grind knives out of broken pieces of hard steel leaf spring. I'm guessing the tools were stolen to use, especially Park tools; or sold or bartered for other stuff; most of the homeless encampments have tons of stolen bikes, including our local rental bikes that have wheel locks cut and locator disabled. One of the good sanctioned camps I visited some years back (very clean, people nice), their bike fleet was all legit but none working, I brought over my tools one day and got 4 of 6 of them roadworthy.

When you are broke, homeless and/or on drugs, every penny helps. Take the people you see pushing shopping carts loaded with all types of metal. In my 'hood, we have "junk men" who drive around just before trash day. They take anything made of metal, even if it had no use, except the stuff in the recycling bins, because that can get them into trouble with the law.

There a few along the trails I normally ride on, even a bike repair stand where you just hang your bike from the top tube. I've used it once to adjust my shifting one time, but could have just as easily done it by turning the bike upside down. There are also tools and a pump. They region makes an effort, at least. I appreciate it.

Apparently there are a number of public stands here, but I have yet to see one.

Several years ago they put one along the New River Trail. When I rode by it the next time everything had been stolen.

These are great to have on college campuses, where there are tons of people with bikes and almost no one has tools or pumps to do any sort of basic maintenance.
