Bikes: 1995 Trek 990 (configured for road), Hotrodded Dahon folder, Trek 1400 (not ridden any more), Iron Horse 3.0 homebrew e-bike, 1984 Trek 770 (trying to resurrect)

I'm currently riding a 1984 Trek 770. This is a "rescue" that came into Bobs Free Bikes. It had no wheels and was in sad shape. But it still had all the original Campy bits. I cleaned it up, added some more modern wheels (9 speed cassette), changed out the handlebars, and cleaned and lubed all the moving parts. I mostly just wanted to see if I'd like riding it - and it turns out that I do. So now the question is whether to strip and repaint it or not. I can no longer get the right decals to restore it to original. I can do something close though. I'll ride it a while longer and then figure something out.

I took a ride on the '78 Raleigh Super Course today. More of a Rat Ride of sorts.

Took my Trek Checkpoint SL 5 out for its maiden voyage yesterday, and my first ever clipless ride.

I did a 30 mile ride with a 1,000 ft of climbing this morning. The ride was mainly paved but there was some gravel thrown in and more than a few bad spots on the local trail that you have to navigate. I took my 1992 Stumpjumper. It eats up bad roads with 26 x 2.1 inch tires; it's a comfy bike for a longish ride on poor roads. I like the wide gearing on old MTBs as well (46/36/24 rings and an 11-28 7 speed cassette).

My new GT Carbon Grade, just got it finished last Friday. Crank and cassette are XTR 9100 12 speed, with GRX 820 series levers, derailleur, and calipers. Bar is a Deda Super Zero gravel carbon, stem is Thomson, pedals are XTR 9120. It’s light, smooth, and should handle the big climbs in the mountains next year.

With that gearing you could climb more than mountains

Yesterday was a NBD for me and a departure from my usual steelies: a magnesium VAAS with CF fork, Ultegra mechs, CF Praxis crank, CF rims and bars. My lightest in the fleet!

It’s fitted with 32mm tires and fairly wide-range gearing. Time to climb some hills!

I pulled the 1980 Centurion Super LeMans out today for a morning ride. This was my first attempt at an upright conversion. You are definitely in the clouds with a 25" Frame and 27" wheels in an upright riding position. No time trials here...

Something about this bike that looks real cool, I think I like the bullhorn handlebar! Nice ride!

Nice find! I happened to stop for water next to a decal shop and asked about making new decals for a bike, and they said as long as I have good artwork to start with, it is easy. I would guess that with a major brand like Trek and a little help from a Google, you could find pictures of the original decals.

sssink.com has Trek 770 decals, nice bike and to my dismay I have a Trek with similar bars that I converted to bar end shifters and love it but can't bear to do it to my customs and Italians.

I appreciate this smooth-riding French steel more and more the older I get. 1976 Motobecane Grand Touring.
