Trek Allant+ 7 Gen 2 Spare Battery Question
I'm a happy owner of a Trek Allant+7 Gen 2 bike. Since I'd like to do some week long tours, I thought it prudent to buy a spare 500w battery to mirror the OEM vertical battery. I now have to get a battery cover to fit it to the frame. When I looked on the Trek site, I see the cover, but it doesn't specify whether it includes the "end caps/adaptors" that attach to the battery to actually make everything fit into the frame.
Anyone with actual experience here? If the battery cover ($120 part) comes with everything I need; great. If not, what do I have to get (specific name of part please) along with the cover?
Thank you.

all the parts will be separate. it may be easier to get the external battery extender. then you don't have to carry an extra battery the bike will do it for you. the cost may be a bit less too. I got it for my 8 as I already had the battery. its hard to pack batteries.

It looks like the new one is Bosch Smart System but they do have their own cover for it. I will say make sure your shop has a Bosch Battery Tool that can work with the Smart System batteries if you have the latest version and keep that battery in sleep mode. The shop I worked at previously had a $99 fee to put the battery into sleep mode as it takes a while (mostly hands off but requires a computer to be out). This is if you aren't regularly using the battery. It will need to be brought back to be woken up but it will keep the health of your battery in better shape. If you are regularly using the battery then keep them charged to 80% or if storing for a month or so 40-60% and then use the sleep mode service for long term storage.
In the end though I probably wouldn't get a battery yet unless you really need it. The beauty of Bosch and why I like their products so much is they come from an automotive background of OK we are going to support this product for 11-16 years after we discontinue it so we don't leave people stranded without parts because we upgraded. So buying a battery to store is not as practical for a bike like that. However if using it that is different.
If you are doing longer term storage of a battery I would keep it in a cool dark place that is ideally fire safe. Not that you really need to worry with Bosch because you don't but you should take precautions just as a rule. Better to be overly safe than sorry. However I have yet to hear or see a Bosch e-bike battery on fire without maybe some extreme conditions well out of the norm.
