It just turns off?
I've got a rear hub motor with a Kt-Lcd3 display. Yesterday I was riding on the flats, putting no stress on the motor, with 40.0 vol on a 36v system, temp nice and cool. The display turned off and thus the motor did. I only noticed because it became a bit harder to pedal, looked
to see what happened on the display, and it was grey. What could cause this, and should I be concerned? It is a new battery (2 months old).

You didn't say, but it must have started back up right away. In that case it could be a connector was loose or loosened, but reverted. Otherwise you might try to reproduce the phenomenon (at home) by "jiggling" the wires. I don't think it was the battery since TDS's chart indicates it was @ 85% SOC.
