Sorry to hear about the injury. The timing sucks.
Reminds me of college, when I fractured bones at both elbows, and had to type a paper that weekend. It was unpleasant, but I suddenly had little else to do.

Off topic, but our trick is to fly to CdG via Iceland. Get through the Shengen zone Customs at Reykjavik, and arriving at CdG is painless.

Bummer. I’d be curious to hear what happened if you feel like sharing. My understanding is that Paris is very bike-friendly. I did have a few confused moments as a pedestrian when I visited, but doesn’t everybody?

It has become a pattern yes. Honestly, I was expecting something a little more creative like "Splatt"
Bike infrastructure abounds, alot of cyclists too but no one follows the rules. I found it to be very sketchy as a visitor unfamiliar with the city. Kind of like a "Mad Max" movie. Had several cars right hook me, peds cross the bike lanes without looking, many e-bikes and scooters squeeze by at much higher speeds, people ignoring stop lights - you must remember nearly everyone around you knows where they are going and they are in a hurry - don't even think of trying to emulate them.. Your head needs to be on a swivel at all times and look at your gps? Nah, you want bike friendly, go to the Netherlands or avoid the large cities and ride in the country - that's France at her best. Out there it is simply amazing.
I clipped a metal pole with my left pedal. Totally my fault.
Gotta go, going to the hospital now for surgery, I sure hope my surgeon is a morning person..

My 2 month cyclotour was over by the second day.
I'm home now.. having Distal Radius Surgery tomorrow.
Cycling in Paris is not for the faint of heart.
I did get a chance to visit the fabled Cycles Alex Singer though.
The accident happened on the way back to my airbnb on the other side of town.
Totally my fault.
I’ll be ok, just really disapointed right now.
Typing is difficult using my left hand so this is all I’ll say for now.

A similar injury approaching 3 decades ago was due to my last (knock on wood) serious accident on two wheels. The accident was also 100% my own fault.
Luckily my wrist fracture didn't require surgery; a few weeks in a cast followed by some time in a brace did the trick. FWIW: mine has healed quite well (I'd estimate 95-98+% "good as new") and even today only very rarely reminds me of the incident in any way. Hopefully yours heals as well or better.
Do keep a close eye out for post-surgical complications, though. My spouse also had a similar injury some years ago (due to a slip and fall on very smooth concrete that had gotten wet and was at the bottom of some stairs) and ended up with a post-surgical infection. Luckily it was caught early and didn't cause any long-term issues with recovery.
