Thanks! They also used to make frames for scapin back in the days and currently for cinelli (their xcr), mason, and a bunch of other big brands

Just plan ahead if you want a cicli barco one since I think currently lead times are at least 8-10 months!

Was that rear wheel relaced at some point in time?

Valve stem is in the wrong place relative to the spokes.
Hard to believe it left the factory like that.

Both wheels, too. Good eye.

Probably not for 22/24 spoke wheels.

My 1989 Pinarello Montello has really surprised me, especially considering the poor quality of Italian paint even back in the day when these were new, and not just the cromovelato finishes. There is no paint loss due to flaking or decal degradation (another common issue with these old Montellos), only some minor scratches from wear and tear over the last 35 years, which is a miracle in itself. By comparison, contemporary Miyata had some of the best paint around.

Pull up a picture of a Nucleon wheelset or any of the Campagnolo wheels from that series.

The spokes on either side of the valve hole should be sort of “parallel,” not triangular, meeting at a point near the hub. Not a huge issue, but a detail that an experienced wheel builder wouldn’t have made. See the Pinarello’s wheels above.

Ah thanks! so thats why I found it annoying inflating these, the clarence to get the pump and hand in feels tiny compared to other wheels

Exactly one of the reasons why most wheels are built with the bigger opening near the valve hole.
